Chapter Five: Her Partner

Exact six in the morning I was getting ready for school. I finished cooking breakfast for my dear brothers. I also finished cleaning the whole house while the guys were still sleeping.

"Where are you going?", untag sa akin ni Chester na kakalabas pa lang ng kwarto niya habang kinukusot ang mata.

I smile at him, "School." Simpleng sagot ko.

"This early?!", gulat na tanong nito.

"Uh-yeah." Kibit-balikat kong sagot. "See you later bro." Pagpapaalam ko dito.

Lumabas na ako ng bahay at tinungo ang daan papunta sa University. I am so excited to see and meet her. A big smile keep appearing in my face. I can't hide this feeling anymore... I will tell my feelings for her later. This will be now.. or NEVER.

I spin around slowly while walking in the street. Round and round and round. I spread my arms and feel the cold breeze. I close my eyes while spinning.

"Aray!", sigaw ng isang babae.

Napamulat ako nang maramdaman kong may nahagip ang kamay ko. Isang babaeng hinihimas ang pisngi niya. Nasampal ko yata.

"I-i-im sorry." Hinging paumanhin ko. "Sorry. Pasensya na." Ulit ko pa.

"Baliw ka ba?!" Bulyaw nito sa akin. Namumula na ang pisngi nitong nahagip ko. "Sino sa tingin mo ang taong magpapa-ikot-ikot na parang timang sa tabi ng kalsada ha? Sira ba ang ulo mo?!" Dagdag pa nito.

"Sorry na miss. Hindi ko naman sinasadya eh." hingi ko ng tawad dito.

"So kung sinadya mo pala eh 'di hindi ka magso-sorry, ganun?!" Pagalit nitong tanong.

Napakamot ako sa ulo ko sa tinuran nito. Girls are really hard to please. Maliit na bagay pinapalaki pa. Buti na lang at hindi ganyan ang ugali ng Bren ko. Napangiti ako sa isiping iyon.

"At bakit pangiti-ngiti ka pa jan?!" mataray na singga nito sa akin.

I compose myself and cleared my throat. I look at her," Ms. I am really sorry. I really didn't mean to do that. It was an accident. Please forgive me." I pleadingly apologize to the girl infront of me.

She rolled her eyes, "Whatever!" Iritado nitong sigaw sa akin at padabog na umalis sa harapan ko.

Napakamot ako sa ulo ko. I turn around to face the way to the university. Isang Brenda Angeli Castillo ang bumungad sa akin. Our eyes met. She is staring at me. Without any expression written in her face.

It's the most mysterious thing that I am so curious to figure out. How can be the most cheerful and a light-hearted person become this so cold and full of distance with everyone.

We are still looking at each other. I smiled sweetly at her. Lumapit ako sa kinatatayuan niya.

"Good morning!" Masigla kong bati sa kanya. "Kumain ka na ba?" She nod as a response to my sudden question. "Did you see.." nahihiya kong tanong sa kanya. Ang tinutukoy ko ay iyong nangyari kanina. She nod again as a response. I smile at her awkwardly.

She started walking so I accompanied her silently. We walk side by side silently until we reach our room. She suddenly stop before I reach the knob of the door.

She face me,"I actually saw everything."

Napatulala ako. Hindi dahil sa sinabi niya kundi dahil sa boses niya. It is not the usual cold and heartless tone that she always use. Ito iyong boses na na-miss ko. Yung boses na inaasam-asam kong marinig mula ng umalis ako ng Pilipinas. My heart beats faster from hearing it.
