"Well Jess," Mark Miller mumbled as he flipped through a few different papers that were sitting on the conference room table. My heart was racing. What the hell was this long pause for? I swore that my interview went well-- I swear. "We normally don't do this on the spot... But... I'd like to offer you the job, you're the perfect person."

I sucked in a breath and looked at him with wide eyes. "Thank you! This is my dream job, I really appreciate it," I replied excitedly with a bit smile on my face as I hopped up and shook his hand. "You will not be disappointed."

Mark smiled at me. "Would you be able to come back tomorrow at noon to fill out some paperwork? Also, when would you be able to start with us? The regular season officially starts next week Thursday," he informed and leaned back into his seat.

"I need to give at least a week and a half to my work. So would Tuesday the 8th be okay," I asked and tilted my head a bit.

"The team itself will be out on a small road trip beginning on the 9th, so why don't we start you that day. It'll be easier to get you all set up when the boys aren't around," he replied and nodded at me.

I smiled. "That is absolutely perfect." I looked at my watch and my eyebrows raised. "Oh... Uhh... I've actually gotta head back to work, I need to walk there."

"That is no problem at all, Jess. We will see you tomorrow. That's when we will get you credentials and such. Have a great night," Mark mentioned and smiled so he could shake my hand. "We look forward to having you with us."

I stood and shook his hand. "Thank you so much, Mr. Miller."

He opened the door for me and smiled as he shook his head a bit. "You can call me Mark. We are all on a first name basis here, Jess."

He escorted me to the door and smiled one last time. "Thank you, again! I can't wait for all of the opportunities that are ahead of me."

"I'll see you tomorrow, Jess," he replied. He stopped near the front desk and leaned against it as I moved toward the front doors of the office.

I nodded at him and pushed the door open. As I made my way into the damp Boston day, the wind picked up, but I couldn't bring myself to care. As I walked toward my current office building, my smile got bigger and bigger. Oh my god! I needed to call Julian! He was the one who encouraged me to put the application in in the first place.

I pulled my phone out and clicked on his contact. He answered in the matter of seconds. "How'd it go, Jess," he asked as soon as we were connected.

"Julian," I squealed and ran a hand through my hair. "You are speaking to the newest member of the Boston Bruins Marketing team!"

"They offered you the job on the spot," he asked, shock swimming in his voice. "Jess, please tell me you're telling the truth."

"Yes! Julian! The fucking offered me the job on the spot! I'm so excited! I can't believe I have my dream job," I exclaimed with a big smile. "This is insane!" A few tears began to pull from my eyes.

He let out a huff. "Jess! I'm so proud of you! I knew you'd get the job! There was never a doubt in my mind! We're going out on Friday night! No ifs, ands, or buts! We're going to celebrate," he demanded, I could hear the smile in my voice.

I sniffled as I kept on walking. "I-I... I can't believe this is real, Jules," I mumbled into the phone as I wiped a few tears from my face.

"Awe! Are you crying, Bubs?" His voice was his normal teasing voice.

I choked on a laugh and nodded. "Y-Yeah... I am... I can't believe this is happening, Jules. I just... Holy fuck! The Boston Bruins!"

"This is great, Jess! I'm so happy for you... And I don't care what you say... Danny is going out with us Friday night! He is! And I'm not taking no for an answer! He's gonna be really excited for you," Julian told me in a stern tone.

I rolled my eyes. "Jules-- No. If he's going... I'm not going out, there is no way. He hasn't stopped trying to get me to talk to him since yesterday when he showed up at my work, Jules. My work! Like he won't leave me alone. I wish he'd just get the damn hint," I mumbled into my phone.

"Jess," Julian sighed on the other end of the phone. "He... He realized how much of an asshole he was for the week that he and her were together. He ranted to me about how he was blind and he didn't mean it. He wants to apologize to you."

I shook my head. "Julian... I can't face him, not since I've realized my feelings. I just can't. I'd rather just give up our friendship than to be rejected and ruin it. I can't take it. When... Last time it happened I was ruined for months. The last thing I need is to catch more more feelings.  I can't. I'm sorry," I told him. "I-I... Jules, I gotta go. I'm at work and now I actually have to work."

"Just think about it, Jess. Please. Not only for your sake, but for Danny's. I know you care about him... Don't just... leave him in the dust," Julian replied sadly. "But... I mean... Congrats on getting the job. This is the start of something great. I know it is. I'll talk to you when I talk to you."

"Thanks Jules. I'll see you," I mumbled and hung up the phone. I slid it into my pocket and made my way into the building.

I couldn't believe that I wasn't going to be coming to this building to work for much longer. I was there for nearly five years. Life's crazy.
