Awakening

Endlessly tumbling through waves of dreams. Nothing but sleep for years and years. Such a long time. Such a long time with no food, or blood or anything.

But suddenly, there was something other then dreams. A cave, a cold cave.

Then dreams. Dreams and more dreams.

But then again, cave.

It went back and forth from dreams to cave for months, maybe years. As time went on it was easier to stay awake. They could stay awake for longer periods of time.

Now they could hear things. Feel things. It was happening, the Angel's hold was wearing off. It wouldn't be much longer. Now they could even move around.

Sleep and dreams still claimed them, but less and less so. They were starting to fight back, they were regaining control.

Finally it happened. The rock moved. The rock at the cave's entrance moved. It was happening, they were going to be free.

It had been a long long time since they had been free.

The war, the fighting, it all seemed so long ago. Maybe it had been. Maybe time had passed much faster then they thought.

A grinding sound broke them from their dreams. It was moving. The rock was moving. This was it.

Sunlight slowly trickled into the prison. Their eyes burned but it didn't matter. They were going to be free.

Just as soon as it had started, the rock was gone, the cave was open.

Slowly, slowly they made their way towards the exit. It had been so long since they had moved.

The last time they had seen sunlight, it had been the last time.

They were screaming, writhing, trying to get out of the hold the angel had on them. It was worthless. The angels wouldn't let them go, the archangel commanding the angels wanted them dead.

"Come on, I'll cut you a deal" they hissed, spitting out blood.

"I would never deal with you." the archangel says icily. Damn her, damn her! Luciana, that's who she is. Doesn't she know who she's dealing with?

They scowl, showing fangs. "Your loss. This isn't over. This will never be over! Not until you're all dead and heaven is burning!"

The archangel looked at them with the utmost loathing in her eyes. "You don't understand. It is over. You've lost, Sephalles."

Then pain, pain lanced through their body.

And then nothing.

They thought they had died until they realized they were dreaming. They weren't dead, the archangel had left them alive.

This meant there was a chance to return.

The chance had come and they had taken it, they thought as they slowly stood. Sun poured down onto them. It felt strange, it made them feel alive.

It made them feel hungry for life. So so hungry.

Slowly drawing up to their full height they eyed the landscape. It was barren and quiet. Nothing was here, which meant there was no food as well.

There was one thing that was particularly needed right now. Souls.

Human souls were like gold to demons. The could be eaten, used as currency, anything really. If a demon would make a deal with a human, they would ask for a soul in return. Even though the number of humans willing to trade their souls was lessening, the demons' supply would never run short. If a human didn't want to give up their soul, they could just take it.
