Sephalles looked into the swirling dark mixture known as coffee. They didn't really understand what the big deal about this drink was. It was bitter, and honestly kind of gross.

This was pointless.

Sephalles groaned, leaning back into the wooden chair they were sitting in. They had no idea what to do now. Yes, being free was beyond excellent, but honestly....what was there to do now?

"Date stood you up huh?" a voice said. A tall blond man with a long yellow coat was sitting in the chair next to them. His wavy blond hair seemed to be blowing in some sort of non existent wind and covered on eye.

"What the-" Sephalles said, jumping back.

"Don't freak out, I'm a friend." The man said. His outline seemed to glow when he spoke and his voice was weirdly echo-y.

"You're not really here are you." Sephalles said. "You're one of them."

"Very good!" the man said, clapping his hands. "Name's Cypher, and I think I have the deal for you!"

"I make the deals." Sephalles said silkily. "I thought you'd be showing a little more respect."

"Likewise red. I'm all over this world!" Cypher cheered. "I see everything."

His pupils contracted to slits and rolled back into his head. The remaining white of his visible eye glowed with different scenes from human history. Wars, the plague, and more horrible events.

"Well then." Sephalles said. "Good for you. If you are who you say you are, I think we might have a little more to talk about."

"You got that right! You're the boss here, I know that. I wouldn't of let you out if I wanted a fight!"

Sephalles kept their eyes on the glowing man. This was interesting. If one of his kind was looking to form an alliance with demons, something big must be in store.

"So I was thinking that since I let you out and all, you'd owe me something in return." Cypher said.

"I could level this building just by thinking about it. Choose your words wisely." Sephalles said.

"Right right, again, not looking to start something your destructive-ness." Cypher sunk into a mock bow. "And I wasn't gonna just charge you for my consultation fee. I have something else you want. A little lonely out here without your friends? I know how to get em' out."

"Oh really?" Sephalles asked. "And how would I do that?"

"Ah ah ah." Cypher said, shaking his finger. "I don't work for free. I need a favor first. You see, there's gonna be a group of people heading this way looking for a few demon victims. Some of your's, some of mine, no need to worry really, just a group of deerstalkers. Anyways, one of the people in that group is of some....special interest to me. Let's say she's marked for a wild ride! I wasn't really counting on those deerstalkers getting in the way so I need someone to take away the heat if you get what I mean."

Sephalles mouth twisted into a grin.

"See, now you're getting into it. Nothin' too crazy. Just show em' who's alpha you got it? Kill the innocent, freak em' out."

"Oh I got it." Sephalles said.

"And whatever you do, don't say a word about me." Cypher said, snapping his fingers. A slightly blurred replica of the coffee appeared.

"And why not? I don't think some deerstalkers would trouble themselves with you. No offense, you're not exactly the biggest news around."

"Neither are you." Cypher said, eyes glinting. "Regular fossil of the demon world."
