"What do you want to do today?" Michael asked, putting the key in the ignition and starting the car.
"I don't mind Mikey," I said with a small smile.
"Are you okay?" He asks, turning his body to face me.
"Michael!" I squealed. "You're going to crash the car!" I laugh, grabbing the steering wheel.
"No I'm not, I'm a professional," he says, smiling proudly.
"Face the road you hooligan," I laugh. He just shrugs, facing the road a little.
"But seriously, are you okay? Did Nathan say something to you? Oh God, do you hate me?" He asks, starting to get worried.
"Hey, hey," I whisper, running a hand through his hair.
"I love you," I smile. He smiles back widely, taking one hand off the steering wheel and grabbing my own, kissing it and intwining our fingers.
"I'm just worried about Jack, that's all," I say quietly, looking out the window at the beautiful scenery. Sydney is literally the most beautiful place on Earth.. well that's not true but it's really damn beautiful.
"Well what do you want me to do to make you feel better? I'll do anything you want," he says.
"Anything?" I ask with a smirk tugging at my lips.
"Anything," he repeats, swallowing hard and staring at the road.
"Okay.. this is hard. What ridiculous thing can I make you do to make me feel better?" I ask with a slight chuckle.
"I know, you should dye your hair green," I say jokingly.
"Okay," he says as if it's nothing. I tilt my head to look at him better, starting to laugh.
"That was a joke, Michael. You don't need to dye your hair green just to make me laugh," I say.
"Will it make you happy?" He asks, looking at me briefly before turning back to the road.
"I guess it would be funny," I say.
"Then I guess I'm dying my hair green," he says simply, turning around and heading towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
"Where are we going?" I ask, looking around.
"Hair dresser, obviously," he says, continuing to drive towards the bridge.
"You know where a hairdresser is? How often do you get your hair done?" I ask.
"I went through this phase...." He says.
"Go on," I urge him on, crossing my legs on my car seat.
"I used to dye my hair all the time. My hair is naturally this colour, but I have dyed my hair pink, blue, red, black, reverse skunk..."
"Reverse skunk?" I laugh, looking at his hair. I always knew it wasn't exactly the healthiest hair but I thought that was just because he was a guy and didn't take good care of it.
"Yeah, reverse skunk. White hair with a black stripe through it. It was great," he chuckles.
"So green is just another colour to the list?" I ask, all of a sudden interested in how many colours Michael has dyed his hair. I've always wanted to dye my hair. I have red hair and was always given shit about it in school and stuff, but mum never let me dye it.
"Yeah, I guess you could put it that way," he chuckles. We pull up to a fancy hair dressing salon. As we get out of the car, I look around. I couldn't really tell where we are, but I know we're near the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
"Lou! Hey!" Michael says to the lady behind the counter. She had blonde hair and tanned skin, I could tell just by looking at her that she was a hair dresser.
"Michael! I haven't seen you in quite a while, how are you?" She asks in her thick English accent.
"Good, this is my girlfriend Georgia," he says, putting his arm around my waist.
"Hiya, I'm Lou," she says, waving her hand veraciously. I wave back, laughing a little.
"Hi," I say, running my hand through my hair.
"So who's getting their hair done?" She asks with a smile.
"I'm dying my hair green," Michael says with a smile.
"Wow, another weird colour. Do you hate fitting in? Or do you just want everyone to look at you?" She jokes.
"Ha ha you're so funny Lou," he replies in a girly voice. I laugh as he waves his hand around in some attempt to mock Lou.
"Michael," I laugh, shoving his arm.
"Just get in the damn chair," I say, pushing him into the hair dressing chair.
"This would be better if you were sitting on my lap," he says as Lou comes out with a bowl of green hair dye. I roll my eyes and sit down on the couch.
----- 30 minutes later ------
"It looks great Mikey!" I squeal clapping my hands together.
"Yeah, turned out awesome. Thanks Lou, love you long time," he says with a laugh.
"Hey Georgia, did you want me to dye your hair? Maybe just for something different?" Lou asks, taking some of my hair in her hands and looking through it.
"It's really healthy. You haven't dyed it before, have you?" She asks and I shake my head.
"I've always wanted to, though," I state.
"Well, it's now or never, right? I think a really nice brown would go nicely with your skin tone," she says with a warm smile.
"That sounds awesome," I say, smiling widely.
------- like an hour and a half later ------
"Wow! Oh my Gosh, Lou this is amazing! Thank you so much!" I say, smiling widely.
"It's no problem, hunny. I'm glad you like it," she smiles.
"So how much do I owe you?" I ask, pulling out my purse.
"Oh, George, it's on me," she says, refusing my money.
"I can't do that! I have to pay you somehow!" I say, trying to hand her a $50 note.
"Well, if you wanted to pay me back somehow, you could babysit my daughter next weekend. It's my husband and I's anniversary and we really wanted to go out for the weekend, but we can't find anyone to look after her. She's a real sweetheart and she's no trouble, right Michael? You met her once when I brought her into the salon," she says, looking at Michael.
"I love Lux! She is so cute," he exclaims like an excited little girl.
"Of coarse! It's the least I can do," I say with a smile.
"You must think I'm a horrible mother, leaving my baby with a girl I just met," she says, scratching the back of her neck.
"No! Not at all! I'm sure you're just as good a mother as you are hairdresser," I say, smiling at my hair in the mirror.
"Thank you, George. I will text Michael the details and see you next week. Have a great day, love," She says, waving as we walk out of the salon.
"Bye Lou," Michael and I say, waving as we get in the car.
"I'm driving this time," I say, reaching for my keys.
"Why is that, babe?" He asks, holding them above my hair.
"Because this is my car!" I laugh, snatching my keys and getting into the drivers seat.
"Touché," he laughs, getting into the passenger seat.
