Damon's eyes flicker open. "Damon!" I shriek, running over and practically tackling him on the couch.
"Elena.." He whispers hugging me back with just as much need.
I pull away and take his face in my hands. "Don't ever scare me like that again?" I sniff. "Do you hear me?"
He nods, pulling me back into a hug again. I laugh into his hair, beyond happy to see him alive and in my arms.
We pull away at the same time. Our minds are actually that in sync. Damon turns to Bonnie and Caroline. "I have a feeling that it was you both who helped me stay alive."
"Don't make me regret it." Bonnie gives Damon a warming look, but then breaks out into a warm smile.
"I didn't do it for you." Caroline says coldly. "Your happiness is my suffering, but I did do it for Elena." She folds her arms.
{Night}
I lay in bed on my side next to Damon. I stare at him and try to figure him out. "You're letting other people see the good in you, Damon." I take his hand in mines. "It's different."
He turns his head to stare back at me. "Don't think it's easy because it's not."
"I know that, Damon." I turn to lay on my back, staring at the wall. "But why can't it be? Why does it have to be so hard?"
He sighs. "Because of you." He says. "I couldn't admit it to myself for so long but you have really changed me. I feel more myself than I have in the past 100 years."
"Never knew I had that power." I say, laughing.
"I didn't either." He says. "I guess there's just a lot were still learning about each other and ourselves."
I nod. We lay in silence, and he plays with my fingers.
Eventually we drift off into a deep and satisfying sleep.
"Damon." I shake him awake. He groans. A stroke of ideas and excitement has coursed through my veins this morning. "Damon." I shake him harder. "Damon we can buy our apartment today." I whisper in his ear. "Just for us."
His eyes open and a cheeky grin takes place on his features. I can't help but laugh at how childish he looks. "You're such an idiot." I punch him lightly in the arm. "Okay, now get up."
After strolling through all too many different places, we finally find the right apartment.
"Isn't it amazing?" I flash a smile to damon. "It just screams us."
"I don't know. Seems a little mainstream." He says. He catches my look. "I'm just kidding." He holds his hands up in defense. "Love you."
"Mmhmm.."
The walls are a crispy lemon yellow in the kitchen, and then a faded light auburn brown in the living room. It's wide and roomy, and there are 2 bedrooms in all. Two bathrooms. Light illuminates inside from the large window, creating the misty and heavenly affect. Pretty ironic since we're vampires.
The ceiling is high up, and there's a flat screen TV and fire place in the living room. Fire places are Damon and mines thing.
"Okay do you want me to compel the seller or do you got it?"
I glare at him. "We're not compelling anyone. We are buying this house."
The rest of the day is packed with us filling out paper work and signing agreements. I transfer my savings from the bank to paying for the house. It's a long and stressful day but it's completely worth it.
"Paint?" Damon asks. We've finished settling in our apartment, only to find the bathrooms not finished. "Where's the paint?"
I run downstairs to grab some yellow paint buckets. I carry them all the way upstairs like they weigh nothing. I am a vampire. "Here." I say to Damon. "Here's the paint."
"We're painting the walls?" He asks, obviously not very joyed.
"Well they won't paint themselves." I shrug, handing Damon a paint roller.
I began rolling the yellow paint over the walls and zone out. The motion is relaxing and soft. Soothing is the word. I catch Damon staring at me from the corner of my eye. I glance over to him. "What?" I ask, still painting.
"You're beautiful." He blurts out. "The way the light makes your hair shine almost as bright as your smile." He steps closer, his hot breath against my ear. "You're smile."
There was no time to waste before our lips were roughly moving against each other. We take turns pushing each other against the walls. The kissing hot and heated. "Why do you have to be so magnetic?" I whisper to Damon.
He brings me up to the bed, our kiss not pausing. "Let me see the good in you." I say, flirtatiously. He knows exactly what I'm talking about as his lips curve upward into a grin.
And then he lets me see the good in him all night long..
