"LET US OUT, YOU ASSHOLES!"

BANG! BANG!

Gabe's fists beat on the door of the abandoned building him and Javi were being held in. Max had taken Kate somewhere that she could be trained separately from the guys. They had been given 4 bottles of water and two cans of beans when they first arrived and now, on day 5, they were down to a half empty bottle of water and ate the last of the beans that morning. The sweltering Georgia heat had them panting and sweat soaked the shirts they had on.

BANG! BANG!

"GABE! JUST STOP!"

Gabe paused his pounding on the door and turned to face a miserable and defeated looking Javi who was sitting on the cement floor. Frustration bubbled within Gabe at the sight of his uncle and his face twisted up in agitation.

"What the hell is wrong with you, uncle Javi?! They took Kate and you're just sitting there and not doing anything!"

Javi scowled up at his nephew and pushed himself up before getting in Gabe's face.

"What else am I supposed to do?! They locked us down here and your banging on the fucking door is not helping us at all!"

"Well, it's better than just giving up and not doing anything at all!"

Javi laughed sarcastically and shook his head at Gabe.

"Right, like it was better for you to mouth off to Max at the junkyard? If you had just kept your mouth shut for once in your goddamn life, Mariana would still be here! And I sure as hell would take her over you any fucking day of the week!"

Gabe become stiff at Javi's words and his face fell at the revelation before walking over to a corner of the basement and sitting down. Javi, who hadn't realized what he had actually said until then, relaxed and started walking over to Gabe.

"Gabe, I'm so sorry. I didn't me-"

"Save it, Javier. Just leave me alone."

Javi immediately stopped in his tracks when he heard Gabe call him "Javier". He never called him that, even when they knocked heads in fights. Javi wanted to go over and hug Gabe, but the sound of keys unlocking the door stole their attention. Max walked in with a battered looking Kate and gave the guys a cheeky smile.

"Well, it sounds like we're all getting along in here! Boy, come with me and I'll let your mom stay here. It's time we started training you!"

Javi expected Gabe to lash out at the man that killed his sister, but Gabe stood without a word of protest and stood in front of Max.

"She's not my mother. Let's go."

Max looked surprised at Gabe's attitude, but releases Kate to Javi and smacks his hand on Gabe's back.

"I expected that to be a hell of a lot harder, but I'm not complaining. Let's go, boy."

Javi and Kate looked helplessly as Max took Gabe with him without any objection coming from the teen and when the door was closed and locked, they didn't know what was going to happen next.

With Gabe and Max

"Alright, kid. Here's what's gonna happen. You're going to be trained by Lonnie and I everyday and every night in this here backyard. You will be sleeping in the shed away from your family and will stay that way until you are ruthless soldier that boss is going love and get rid of his little fucking princess soldier. God I fucking hate her and her kid."

Gabe, who had been quiet throughout their trip, finally acknowledged Max's words and furrowed his eyebrows.

"I thought you said she was around my age? She has a kid?"

Max stopped walking as they approached a house that looked like a meth head's house and opened the gate that lead to a backyard.

"Yeah, I don't think it's hers though because he's around 6 years old and she's only like 16 or 17, some shit like that. Here we are, boot camp."

Max roughly shoved Gabe through the gate, causing him to fall face first into the dirt. While Max laughed at the scene, Gabe growled lowly in his throat before pushing himself up and launching at Max. Gabe landed a couple blows to Max's face that caused him to start bleeding before Lonnie grappled him off of Max and Lonnie pistol whipped Gabe in the temple. As Gabe crumbled to the ground, Max jumped up in anger and kicked Gabe in the ribs multiple times before Lonnie pushed him back.

"Max, that's enough! Now we're going to have to have Lingard come over and check his ribs! If he dies, David will feed us to the fucking walkers!"

Max pushed Lonnie away from him and spat on Gabe's now unconscious form before looking back at Lonnie.

"You deal with the fucker! I'm going to get a drink and ice for my face!"

Max delivered one last kick to Gabe before storming off into Richmond. Lonnie shook his head at the mans immature behavior and glanced down at the teen. He sighed to himself and picked up Gabe, taking him into the shed where the he would be staying. Lonnie closed the door to the shed with the boy inside and called for Lingard on his radio.

"Hey, Doc. I'm needing some assistance over at the training place."

"I'll be over in a couple minutes, Lonnie."

Lonnie waited in the backyard for the doctor and waved him over as Lonnie seen the strung out man. Lonnie opened the shed door for Lingard and he knelt down by, the still unconscious, Gabe before sighing and looking up at Lonnie.

"Where did you find this one? And what's wrong with him?"

"Me and Max found him and his family eating our supplies at the junkyard. Max killed his sister in front of him and I guess he's been holding it in until he finally got close enough to Max. Little shit landed a couple good blows on Max before I pulled him off and then Max kicked him multiple times in the ribs."

Lingard hid his slight smile at hearing someone hitting Max by checking Gabe's ribs with his hands and feeling and pushing down on them slightly. Gabe groaned and squirmed under the pressure, but did not awake. Lingard stood up with Lonnie and handed him a couple ibuprofen that he withdrew from his pocket.

"Make sure the kid takes these with some water to help with the swelling and pain. His ribs seem to be sore, but I didn't feel anything broken."

Lonnie nodded his head before placing the pills beside Gabe and a bottle of water before both men exited the shed. Lonnie took a padlock from his pocket on placed it on the door, clasping it shut and giving it a good jiggle.

"Thanks, doc. I'll give you another holler if Max roughs him up a bit too much."

Lingard gave Lonnie a nod with his lips pressed into a thin line from Lonnie's words. However, as Lingard walked away, the doctor made a mental note to himself to do check-ups on the kid every so often because he knew just how Max got carried away with his "training" and prayed to anyone who was listening that the kid would be tough enough to make it through it.
