“Katherine, why did the Marquess give me money?” Isla said once entering the kitchen

“Marquess Nathaniel came and wanted to pay for tea and snacks, we gave him.” Katherine said, peeling the potato

“Well, he isn’t like his step-mother.” Isla said, sitting down

“Of course, he isn’t. She’s a pain, I can tell you that.” Katherine said, cutting the potato

“Oh and the Marquess told me, that he offered you a job, but you didn’t take it because of Ro.” Isla said

“Yeah. I’m Ro’s teacher. I can’t abandoned him now.” Katherine said, looking at Isla

“I’ll be fine, Katherine. I can study since I have books.” Ro said, stirring the soup

“No, Ro. I’m not going to give up on you. The job can wait, your education is more important.” Katherine told him, giving him a stern face

“No, Katherine. I can study by myself and when you come back, I can ask you questions.” Ro said

“Katherine, Ro is right. Even this is your only chance to get close to earning their trust and possibly getting your kingdom back.” Isla said, Katherine looked over at Isla

“How can you say that? I’m fine with helping the both of you. Even there is a part of me that wants the kingdom back and the other that doesn’t.” Katherine told them, clenching her hold on the knife

“Katherine, your life is important to us too, but this is your chance to get your kingdom back.” Isla said, Katherine’s hold loosen

“Katherine, I want you to become Queen again because you inspire me and I can do anything when you’re trying to achieve a goal. So, please take the job, so we can work hard.” Ro said, hugging her from behind

“I’ll take the job, but Ro, I’ll still help you, so ask me anything.” Katherine patted Ro’s hand, “Isla, the money I earn, I’m giving it to you.” Katherine looked over at Isla

“No, you won’t. You’re going to keep the money and spend it wisely.” Isla said, pointing at her

“Don’t worry, but I’m still giving you some money.” Katherine said, “Now, Ro get back to checking the soup. We need to finish cooking because I’m hungry.”

“Thank you for the outfit, Isla.” Katherine said, patting the skirt as they walk towards the mansion

“Your welcome. Just a warning, the head maid is a handful. Duchess Kila picked her as the head maid.” Isla said

“Nothing different than before.” Katherine said, walking through the door as Isla held it open

“Follow me. Don’t talk or touch anything. Understand?” Isla said, Katherine nodded

Katherine and Isla walked through the hall to a door which lead to the kitchen, where multiple maids sat while eating and talking.

“Hey, Isla. Who’s this?” One of the maids ask

“This is my cousin, Marie. She’s going to be working here as of now.” Isla said

“Welcome Marie.” Maids came up to Katherine and introduce themselves

“Why is it so chatty in here?” A tall woman walks into the room, her hands in front of her

“We have a new maid, Marie.” Kia said, pointing to Katherine

“Duchess Kila, didn’t tell me about a new maid.” She said, staring at Katherine

“Marquess Nathaniel requested the job to me.” Katherine said

“The Marquess requested you the job?” She said, surprised

“Yes, he came to me personally. If you don’t believe me, please ask him.” Katherine said

“Well ladies, breakfast is over, so it’s work time.” She clap her hands, “Marie, follow me.”

“Marie, her name is Evelyn.” Isla whispered as she walked passed Katherine

Katherine followed Evelyn. Katherine looked around, watching the maids clean, straighten the pictures, and vacuuming the furniture. The walls covered in a silver color, making the building look dark, but the pictures lightening up the place. They stopped in front of a door, Evelyn knocked on the door and waited until she heard a voice to enter. They walked through the door and Katherine closed the door behind her.

“Evelyn, may I ask why you're here?” Katherine popped her head out from behind and there was Duchess Kila

“Nathaniel has hired a maid which he didn’t inform us about.” Evelyn said

“That boy.” Kila grabbed her phone and pressed in a number, “Nathaniel, I need you to come to my office…. Now… You need explaining to do… I don’t care what you’re doing…. Come this instant.” Kila placed the phone down

The air was awkward as they stood in silence until a knock was heard. Evelyn went to the door and opened it. Nathaniel walked through the door, his hands in his pockets. His eyes widened when he saw Katherine, but regain his composure.

“I’m here, Kila. What did you need?” Nathaniel asked

“Why didn’t you consult me on hiring a maid, who I didn’t know about?” Kila asked

“Why do you care? Marie seems fit for the job and she’s my responsibility.” Nathaniel said, glaring at Kila

“Nathaniel, I’m the head of the house, so everything must go through me.” Kila said, glaring back

“Until father comes back. Now, that you know Marie is working as a maid. Is there anything else that you need?” Nathaniel said

“Marie can not work here, so she has to leave.” Kila said, glaring at me

“Why?” Nathaniel asked, crossing his arms.

“I didn’t approve of her, so Marie please leave.” Kila said

Katherine was about to say something, horrible, but Nathaniel talk first.

“Marie will be my personal maid.” Nathaniel said, Katherine eyes widened and looked over at him

“Nathaniel! Why would you suggest something like that?” Kila yelled

Katherine wanted to laugh, but couldn’t as she was still in shock.

“My proposal is for Marie to be my personal maid since she can’t be a maid for you. She’ll be my maid.” Nathaniel said, he walked over to Katherine

“Nathaniel, I will not allow this! Your father will know about this.” Kila said, her face turning red from anger

“Go ahead, but my father won’t mind as he done the same as me with you.” Nathaniel said, smirking

Kila yelled profanities at Nathaniel as he grabbed Katherine’s hand and they walked out of the Kila’s office.

‘Life just got crazier.’
