Part 20

Vampires didn’t really have need for beating hearts in the night, but Dante often found it rather unnerving that his heart pounded like a human whenever he was shocked, in fear or excited. He was a vampire, and still he could not do away with his heart pounding, his hands shaking and sweating whenever he was nervous.

Today was another day where he wished to be calm, cool and collected like all Playboys were rumored to be.

“That vase goes there, Alvron.” He directed, but the human man was already making towards the appointed destination.

“I know, you don’t have to repeat that a million times over! For a Casanova, you’re being a nervous freak and general disappointment to our family name.” Alvron complained, setting the vase down carefully.

“This is a surprise equally much for Lexi, and the crew. I want to make it memorable for her.” Dante excused, taking a quick walk around the house to make sure nothing was out of place.

This was a mansion that he ended up buying and refurnishing in the span of quick three days. Dante hadn’t allowed Lexi in the house a single step, for he had wanted to surprise her as well as the crew, and watch her reaction. He wanted to watch her reaction, when he would tell her that this would be their family home after they finally decide to get serious and get married.

Of course, he could never neglect his vampire family in Jean-Jacques’s mansion, but he would be able to live here with Lexi, until the end of her days. Of course he had to make this place perfect; a haven.

Dante had to say, he outdid himself this time. The amazing workings of money was definitely a factor for the constructors of the place, and the workers he’d hired had been pretty efficient. The interior designers he hired had clear minds of what they visualized, and within three short days, along with a credit card of unlimited funds, they had turned the place into a haven.

Dante couldn’t have asked for more.

A bell rang through the front sitting room, and Dante peeked quickly out the window to see a sleek car and a van parked outside the mansion. They were here.

Alvron rushed almost immediately to the washroom to prim himself for his debut onscreen, while Dante buzzed the gate open, allowing both his ladylove and the filming crew in. Threading his fingers through his hair and ensuring that his general appearance was acceptable, Dante took a deep breath and held it in, stabilizing himself quickly.

Stage-face. He told himself, and it was quick that he found his Casanova charming smile turning on as he opened the door to receive his girlfriend.

The look on Lexi’s face was enough a present for him, as he stepped out to welcome the crew, who were all marveling at the amazing sight presented before them.

“Welcome to our humble house.” Dante greeted with the Casanova smile, receiving his shocked girlfriend with a quick peck on her cheek that got a pretty blush coming up. That was one blush that no makeup could fake, and Dante was glad that he had been the one to put it there, as he guided the shocked group –including his girlfriend –into the comforts of his –their –new house.

“You seemed equally shocked about this, Ms. Davis.” The interviewer who’d introduced herself as Mila Day observed as they sat in the front sitting room, allowing the crew to set up the lighting for the interview. The interview would go first, then footage of the house tour would come afterwards before they wrapped up for the day.

“I am. Dante told me he was refurnishing this place, but he refused to let me step in, until today.” Lexi confessed, and Ms. Day’s expression of pure envy of his girlfriend made Dante beam.
