Chapter 16

The following day they visit the Chandelier Tree first, and then they travel to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where many pictures are taken and where Jinyoung even snaps a picture of Jaebum tickling Youngjae when the younger teases him and refuses to take pictures of him with the stars.

At ten the bus leaves to the Hollywood sign, where they take some pretty aesthetic pictures and make Jackson and Mark jealous when Jinyoung face times them, and then they leave to Disneyland at eleven.

The whole park screams 'fun' at Youngjae when they arrive, and Mrs. Kim comes around to hand everyone a day pass.

"When you're in the park," Mr. Divins says, "I assume that you will be on your best behaviour. No line-skipping, no swearing, and no screaming unless you're on scary rides or the Haunted Mansion. These passes will provide you entrance to practically any ride without having to worry about payment, and you will have the chance to eat lunch here, too. Please be at the restaurant Blue Bayou at four-thirty, and at five or maybe five-thirty we will perform our concert songs, jazz songs, and choir songs. When you're not playing you can eat dinner at the restaurant as it will be provided, and I am assuming that our songs will be finished by at the least seven, and from then on you can decide whether you want to keep eating at the restaurant or continue taking rides."

Youngjae and Jaebum accept their passes and then they leave the bus and meet up with Jinyoung, and they walk into the large amusement park.

"Let's go to the souvenir shops first," says Jinyoung. "Get ourselves those hats."

Inside the souvenir shop it is cool, and everywhere Youngjae looks he sees Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck, and in one corner are Disney Princess products and in another corner dress-up costumes.

"I choose a hat for you, you choose one for me?" Jaebum asks, and Youngjae nods before the three of them part to find a hat or headband. 

Youngjae, after looking through a few hats, settles on a cap with Minnie Mouse ears, grinning at the thought of seeing Jaebum with it. At the register, he finds that Jinyoung chose a hat of Mike from Monster's Inc. and that Jaebum chose a headband with Mickey Mouse ears.

"Seriously?" Jaebum exclaims as they exit the store and Youngjae forces the hat on his head. "Minnie Mouse?"

"It suits you," Jinyoung grins, wearing his own hat, while Youngjae adorned his new headband. Jaebum flips him off and Youngjae laughs, and then Jinyoung pulls them to another souvenir store.

This time, Youngjae buys a bag of Disney pins to put on his backpack, along with a travel mug and he also gets a phone case with Mickey Mouse ears sticking out at the top, and in another store, he buys two shirts with Disney character references on it, and once that has gone in his backpack they go to an ice-cream store and buy an ice-cream cone, before Youngjae exclaims that it's time to go on one of the rides.

"Where are we going first?" asks Jinyoung, as they pass through most of the souvenir stores and to the middle of the park.

Jaebum smirks and leans over to whisper something in Jinyoung's ear and then Jinyoung smiles and nods and takes Youngjae's arm, dragging him to The Haunted Mansion, and despite Youngjae's many protests upon seeing the ride, he still agrees to go on to amuse his older friends. 

The line isn't that long so they can get on quickly, walking through the halls of the mansion, and Youngjae immediately regrets his decision to go on the ride when they, and a group of other people, stream into a large room and the doors close, a deep voice talking and giving instructions and giving Youngjae the creeps.

"I don't want to do this anymore," Youngjae whimpers, clutching onto Jaebum's arm. Jaebum chuckles and throws his arm around Youngjae's shoulders as the man's voice laughs and lightning cracks above them, showing a doll hanging from a rope off the ceiling.

Youngjae, and a few other people, scream at the sudden lightning and the room begins to stretch down until large doors that reach high to almost the ceiling slide open and lets them go through more halls until they reach carts that allow them to sit down, and Youngjae hastily takes a seat beside Jaebum while Jinyoung sits on his other side.

Jinyoung scares Youngjae a couple of times during the ride - which Youngjae all but enjoys - and he screams a couple of times at the things put on display that are meant to scare him.

Once they are off the ride and the sun warms up their faces, Youngjae breathes a sigh of relief, still clutching onto Jaebum's arm despite that the ride is over.

"I hate both of you."

"Shut up, you love us."

At four, they begin to make their way to the Blue Bayou Restaurant, where Mr. Ross, one of the chaperones, is leading other Band students from Cleveland High inside a back area. Once the three are walking through the halls and getting closer to the room they had been told to go to, Youngjae can already hear some of the flutes playing a scale together and a percussionist practising her part on the bass drum.

Once everyone has gathered and Mr. Divins has checked attendance, he addresses the Band and Choir kids.

"We will start with the Jazz performance," Mr. Divins says, opening his folder. "We'll play Take Five first, and then Theme from New York, New York, and after that, we'll play Watermelon Man. While the Jazz band is playing, Concert Band kids will stay here and you can talk quietly or play your parts without sound. If I even hear a snippet of trumpet playing or a trombone doing a fall, then you will be in big trouble. Choir kids, while the Jazz kids are playing you can eat dinner. Concert Band kids, be ready to go out on stage when Watermelon Man starts, the chaperones will provide you with stands and we will all stand while playing, and once we play our last piece, which I think will be Lightning Field, Choir kids will stand up, leave their tables, and get ready to perform."

Everyone nods, and Mr. Divins signals to set up and run over their songs one more time before one of the biggest performances of the year.
