Chapter 19

"Thanks for not being a loser and coming to the art museum with me."

"I wouldn't even want to deal with Jinyoung's never-ending teasing," Youngjae says, drawing his eyes from the painting in front of him to look at Jaebum, who is still taking in all the details of the picture, trying to work out what techniques were used while painting it. 

It's rather quiet in the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. There is only a small group of students for Cleveland High roaming around, looking at the artwork, and even though Youngjae has no interest whatsoever in art, he still decided to go with Jaebum so the older wouldn't be alone.

Jaebum turns and smiles at Youngjae once catching the younger staring at him. Youngjae burns bright red. "It's still your fault."

"You were the one who decided to fall asleep when we were just sitting on my bed, and I couldn't help it that you are adorable when you sleep so I decided to sleep too and I wasn't the one that decided to barge into our room and actually wake me up by 'aw'ing so loud."

"That was Jinyoung? When he found us cuddled up together?" Jaebum raises his eyebrows.

"Yeah. Jinyoung." Youngjae huffs and lets himself be pulled toward the hallway that carries the statues made. 

There is a small silence as Jaebum is absorbed in looking at the different statues, and then he breaks the silence. "I'm sad that the trip is almost over. Just today and tomorrow to spend here."

"Yeah." Youngjae sighs and keeps a tighter grip on Jaebum's hand. "And then we only have ten schooldays to prepare for the Night Sky Concert."

"I'd say we're pretty good considering yesterday evening." Youngjae shrugs and they continue walking through the hall before reaching the end of the museum, where there is a small gift shop. 

While Jaebum is in the washroom, Youngjae decides to buy a few miniature stone statues of the statues Jaebum had liked so much, along with a set of drawing pencil, as he had noticed on the bus that Jaebum's old pencil is run down and almost used up. He pays for the items and just as he puts the small metal container with the pencils and the stone statues wrapped in paper and bubble wrap in his backpack Jaebum comes back, drying his hands by wiping them on his jeans.

They take the public bus back to the hotel as they had been instructed to by Mr. Divins before they left to the museum and from there they walk to the shopping centre beside the hotel, where they join the rest of the large group of Band kids that had chosen to go to the science museum. The last of the students that went to the art museum join their group, along with the chaperone that would list off everyone that had taken the bus back already, and then they headed inside the shopping centre to shop.

Since Youngjae and Jaebum had already gone shopping two days ago, they decide to simply buy some lunch and eat it at their own tempo while walking around, and eventually, once they finish their food, they enter a clothing store where Jaebum steals a long kiss from Youngjae in the corner of the store when they are hidden away from everyone else's sight.

They stroll around for the rest of their time, going into stores every now and then and sometimes buying something, before beginning to head to the Spaghetti Factory when it is time to do so, around seven. They take a seat at a table with Yugyeom, Kunpimook, and Jinyoung, and listen to Mr. Divins talk about childhood band stories at the table next to them.

Youngjae realizes something when he is walking back to the hotel, watching as Jaebum and Jinyoung are happily chatting while Yugyeom and Kunpimook are attempting to tickle each other in front of the two older boys. He realizes that he actually loves these four people to death, and probably even Jackson and Mark. Despite the fact that Youngjae has almost been kidnapped twice, it doesn't really matter to him at this moment because he's happy.

The following morning, the last day of their trip, Youngjae lazes around in his bed for the first hour and a half, as Jinyoung disappears into the hallway of the hotel to visit some of his friends from his section. And after Jaebum finishes his shower he crawls into Youngjae's side and falls asleep with his head on Youngjae's chest, which Youngjae finds extremely adorable.

After breakfast, they roam around on the streets surrounding the hotel (they are forbidden from going to Disneyland due to how chaperones will have a hard time finding everyone are). Youngjae and Jaebum spend the first half our lazily and sloppily kissing in a booth in a cafe, hidden away from everyone else, and then they walk around on the streets and go to vintage and antique stores to buy things or just look around.

After their lunch, everyone gathers by the bus to go to FourTwenty Arcade, which is a twenty-minute drive away from the hotel. Youngjae manages to win Jaebum a plushy after giving a basketball game a shot, and they go against each other in a racing game which Youngjae wins once and lets Jaebum win the second time.

At three, they go back to Disneyland, though Youngjae and Jaebum stick more to walking around souvenir stores and spending time in cafes or little bars or eating ice-cream at the side of the amusement park rather than joining their friends on rides, though Jaebum manages to convince Youngjae to go on Splash Mountain one last time.

They eat dinner at a small restaurant near The Haunted Mansion and two hours later, at nine, they gather at the bus again to return to the hotel, where Mr. Divins lets it slide for this one time that rooms can be switched up, resulting in Yugyeom and Kunpimook barging into the older boy's room fifteen minutes before curfew and crashing on Jinyoung's bed, much to Jinyoung's annoyance, but despite that they share a lot of laughs.

Youngjae doesn't ever want their friendship to end.
