"My arms are so sore," Youngjae groans, flopping down on the risers that haven't yet been brought out to the gym for the Graduation concert. He shuffles around and puts his heavy head on Yugyeom's shoulder. "I hate setup."
"Then why volunteer to help?" Yugyeom asks with a snort.
"I thought you weren't supposed to carry heavy stuff," Jinyoung brings up from beside Yugyeom, where he is trying to fend off an enthusiastic Jackson who is going on and on about graduation.
"I wasn't even carrying that heavy of stuff, I was just setting up chairs," Youngjae scoffs. "And my arms are sore because we were lifting weights in gym on the last day of school before exams start because that makes perfect sense."
"You were lifting weights?" Jinyoung asks, leaning forward to looks past Yugyeom at Youngjae with a raised eyebrow. "Weren't you supposed to not carry heavy objects at all for like, two months?"
"I was laying down, Jinyoung. Mrs. Pinwol kept the bench free for me so I could lay down while doing all that crap."
"Oh." Jinyoung sighs. "I can't wait to finally leave this place -"
"And go on to college to have even more work? Fun," Yugyeom snorts.
"What I'm doing doesn't even require much work," Jinyoung scoffs. "Just a bachelor's degree in teaching."
"You're becoming a permanent babysitter," Yugyeom says. "I wouldn't want little kids screaming and running around my kids all day."
"First off, it's not called a permanent babysitter. It's called a kindergarten teacher. Second off, not all kids run and scream every day," Jinyoung says.
"From my experience, every child I ever babysat did - Youngjae please get your damn head off my shoulder, it's heavy," Yugyeom complains.
"No. Your shoulder is comfy."
"Go find Jaebum's shoulder or something."
"He's still helping with percussion setup."
"And you're not clinging to him? Surprises me."
Jackson bursts out into laughter when Yugyeom whines and rubs his stomach, where Youngjae had landed a light slap out of revenge. He grins and puts his head back on Yugyeom's shoulder, pulling out his phone to browse Instagram. He comes across a post posted on Jasmine's old spam account that she made three years ago. It's about how the food at rehab sucks and that she wants to leave. Youngjae unfollows her account, not wanting to do anything with her anymore.
"Hey, Jaebum!" Yugyeom yells, spotting Jaebum walking into the band room with some percussion instruments they won't use. "Come get your man, he's being annoying!"
"What's he doing this time?"
Jackson bursts into laughter. The group of trumpets to the side howl at Jaebum's remark, and Jinyoung nearly falls off the risers.
"Boy you just got roasted!" Yugyeom cries out of joy.
Youngjae whines, "Jaebum!"
Jaebum grins and makes his way toward the risers, where Youngjae has sat up and crossed his arms and is staring at the floor. When he sits down, he ruffles Youngjae's hair. Youngjae doesn't look up and keeps his eyes on the floor.
"C'mon babe," Jaebum sings. "Are you seriously going to give me the cold shoulder?"
"Oh, trust me," Jinyoung says, laughter still in his eyes. "You haven't seen the power of his grudges yet."
