Dmoney and Seriya had their baby shower. There was plenty of food , games and fun. Malaysia coordinated and organized the entire event with a small portion of help from her sister because, she didn't want her hand in the mix😂. Everything  went great for the most part, except when some more baby gifts arrived with a very salty note attached to them. I'm sure you can guess who it was from. There was even family from both sides that came to visit and also to attend the baby shower. They also had a family day with lots of pictures and more food that Friday in honor of the soon to be bride and groom. But the next day on Saturday everyone would be dreading the events to come.

       
              The Funeral (Part 1)

"Dearly beloved we gather here today to celebrate the life of Mrs.Topaz Wylds" the pastor preached. "I thought you said you had divorced the bitch?" My mom whispered to me. "Mama, shhh" I whispered back trying to listen. " We all remember the precious moments we shared with her. These are the times we need to call on the Lord for comfort...." the pastor went on. I could hear several other family members whispering insults, including Topaz's dad. "That heffa still owes me $100 from the last time, I saved her from her side niggas" Willie retorted. I gave Kandice that look, letting her know to step in. " All y'all need to shut up out of respect for my mama and for the Lord. Y'all ain't no saints either" she said in a stern quiet tone. "Grandpa I'll give you your money back when service is over" she said rolling her eyes. "Yea y'all need to have some respect" Seriya chimed in. "Babe shh" I heard Dmoney say. Rosa gave me the  'Your family is ghetto as hell' look and rolled her eyes. I tapped my mom and Rosa saying I would be back. As I stood up from the pew to adjust my suit jacket, I saw Shawn sitting in the very back of the church with some random female. I made my way into the bathroom. While I was washing my face I heard a familiar voice. "Aye boy you alright? I see you left in a hurry" Uncle Benny called from behind me. Uncle Benny was Topaz's uncle, Willy's brother and when them two get together its always khaos. "Yea I just needed to get some fresh air its a lil stuffy in there" I said referring to all the church pews stuffed to maximum capacity. "I understand. To be such a bitch she had a lot of friends. I'm surprised so many people showed up.  And I'm sorry about Willy you know his ass is cuttin  up as usual,  the old fool" Benny chuckled shaking his head. "Ikr he might be cranky cuz he'd rather be down at the racetrack since its Saturday." I laughed. I chatted with Uncle Benny for a few more minutes before I went and sat back down to listen to the rest of the service.

  I was so glad to see my dad come back cuz these mfs up in here finna make me spazz out. They talking about my mama like a damn dog , and we sitting on the front row right in front of the casket. It's a shame how salty a bitch can be when you run across some money. But these hoes in here hating on us cuz we all fly af and they looking dusty. Saying shit like "Don't be acting too good cuz you light skinned" , " Ya mama was a hoe anyway, she probably slept with the whole congregation" , and the ever so famous " Yea they got some money but they too boujee to share." I prayed silently to myself asking God to provide me strength and self restraint from lighting up this whole church Service. I was supposed to go up and read a poem or something but at the last minute I told them I didn't want to. My older cousin Deanna said she could go up and sing a song in my place, so I just sat in the audience contemplating my thoughts. Was it wrong of me to change my mind at the last minute? Nah fuck that, that bitch wouldn't have read no poem for me. She was selfish af. I never got any real motherly love  to remember her by so why should I care? I thought to myself but hot tears were streaming down my cheeks. Darius put his arm around me , and Quan squeezed my hand. He was crying a little too. I used the tissue that an usher handed me to wipe my face and then Quan's. I whispered in his ear that it was okay and Grandma was in heaven now. I also told him after this we were going to go eat and he seemed to straighten up a little. The preacher focused on the group we were sitting in when he heard the bickering get louder, but he continued to preach on with no hesitation. I was so embarrassed to have to call these people my "family", but when you have a mother like 2 timing Topaz then your options are limited. I stepped outside the church to get some air. I took a Newport out of Darius's pack I was holding for him, and lit it up. I never smoked cigarettes before, but somehow I felt I needed one. Somebody in a black escalade honked at me from the parking lot and gestured for me to come over. I walked over to the vehicle still smoking. "Put that shit out its bad for you" Shawn said rolling down the window. "Shawn! I didn't recognize you without the lambo" I said getting in. "I needed a change of pace ya know, and no cancer smoke in my car only the best" he said looking at me. I rolled my eyes tossing out the cigarette. He sparked a blunt and rolled up the window. "So how you been? I heard about you and Dmoney's lil spat" I said taking the blunt from him. " Yea bitch ass tried to kill me, but hey I tried to kill him first" he said looking out the window. "Our family isn't perfect but We need to stick together, we're all we have" I said in a soothing voice. I wanted to ask if he was still on his meds, but the last thing I wanted to do was upset my psychopath brother , he'll kill us all. "I miss you and so does Quan. Dad's been asking about you too. I just want y'all to kiss and make up like we always have" I said putting a hand on his shoulder. "I'll think about it" he said forcing a half smile. "Alright I'll see ya" I said closing the door behind me. Just as I was about to walk back into the church a female stopped to talked to me. "Kandice right? Shawn has told me so much about you, he talks about you and Quan all the time" she said smiling. "Where are my manners? I'm Kasey" she said extending her hand. "That's so sweet but let's go already" Shawn yelled, honking the horn loudly. "Ughh. We'll talk later it was really nice to meet you" she said arguing with Shawn as she walked to his car. "Yea see ya" I waved in confusion.
