chapter 1

August 17th, a day that was supposed to be full of warm, sunny, and happy weather as I was told by my sister, yet today is damp and rainy as the Amazonian rain forest, it's also my first day at Elysian High; a school that I just recently transferred to. My brother turned 25 a few months ago he asked me if I wanted to come live with him and away from our adoptive parents. Since I turned 18 they couldn't keep me there so I left with him and my sister, she's 23 years old. I sit up in my bed when my alarm goes off shaking me away from my thoughts of the past. I've been up staring at the clock face since 2 A.M. I stand heading for my dresser to get clothes out, as I walk to it, I slip my tank top and shorts off I always sleep in then grab the clothes I need for school and head to my bathroom that's connected to my room that I rarely leave. I walk to the bathroom taking a quick shower, usually I take longer since I have to wrap my arms and hope the bleeding stops before it soaks through my sleeves.

Since I can wear what I want to this new school I just slip on some black jeans and my oversized beige sweater. I push the sleeves to my elbows but when I look down to slip my black vans on I see the still healing cuts and bruises so I pull my sleeves down. I find my glasses and slip them on as well not doing anything with my hair. I open the medicine cabinet I have in my bathroom and take out a yellow pill bottle and take two of the small off white pills. I hear a knock on my door and Aidan's voice saying I have to hurry if I want to eat but I never eat in the morning or at noon. I only eat when they're watching. Aidan is my older brother.

I hear the front door close and I know I'm alone now. He always wakes me before he heads to work and Tsuki, my older sister, is always gone before I wake and is rarely ever home. I start towards to my bedroom door and grab my black book bag then head out of my room. I lock my door as I always do if I leave it. I don't like people being in my room or in my things. I walk to the stairs and to the door picking up my skateboard. When I see Aidan's car is gone I open the door and head to the school.

I get there a few minutes early so I go up to the front desk and ask the secretary for my classes. When she looks up at me she looks confused then goes to look through the system as I play on my phone then she looks up at me asking

"What was your name again?"

I sigh

"Vladimir Hayashi"

I look down at my phone and quickly hack into the system to change the name they have me under so when she types it in she fined my profile.

"Here it is."

she sounds surprised and confused as she prints off my classes and hands me the paper. I thank her then leave looking for my classroom. it looks like I'll have to go upstairs the down and then up again. I sigh not liking that I'll have to walk to far in such little time. I look at my paper and look for the first class.

"204....204 where is 204? This is 215... did I pass it?"

I talk to myself as I look at the numbers on the doors then I heard back from where I came to finally find my first bell class.

I see no one is there mainly because everyone is still walking around and the bell still has ten minutes till it rings. I open the door and walk in the teach looks up from her book with a displeased look as she talked.

"What are you doing in here? You shouldn't be here till 7:30 you know that"

I shake my head.

"I'm new here I was just looking for 204. It seems to be my first bell."

she sets her book down and looks at me.

"What's your name kid?"

I gulp as I answer.
