Chapter 10

I do my usual morning routine and I run out of the house before either of my siblings try to stop me. i head out to walk down to the school. As I walk I hear my phone bloop and I look at my phone seeing peter texted me.

[hey vlad! I'm passing by your place. Want a ride?]

I chuckle and I text back a yes. Less than a minute later I see peter ride over to me and let's me hop on his bike. I talk to him on the way to school about tonight.

"my uncle said he'll help us. I told him it was for an essay"

"thanks pete...we have to know what's going on. This letter could tell us what's going on...has anything changed?"

I noticed he got stiff when I asked. He usually talks more. I just really don't want him hiding.

"vlad...things are changing......I don't know what to do or how to talk about it..."

"well figure it out tonight then as we work on this..."

The rest of the way is silent and I go to my class walking with peter. I have first and last bell with him. I sit noticing leguon out side the window pecking it. I hear peter laugh and the teacher get annoyed.

"does anyone know how to handle that bird? He's going to break the glass!"

Ms. Tanner sounds pissed off today. I raise my hand. Then I get up opening the window and he attacks me then sits on my shoulder and I sit down with a crow sitting on me.

"Mr. Hayashi you can not have that bird in class!"

"he won't leave. I've tried. He already broke three windows."

She sighs and goes on with the lessons as we take notes. The classes seemed to of come to a crawl and I was relived that that lunch was finally here. I head to the roof and I see them. I start thinking this is becoming a thing. I sit on the blanket that rei had brought with. I see yū with her umbrella and sitting next to rei.

"your eating right?"

I look up at rei and I shake my head.

"no. I don't usually eat. I don't have food to eat."

I notice the looks and I just sit there getting the book out again and I try reading it over. I hear them eating and I set my book down getting my glasses out of my bag and I slip them on. When I turn back I see that there's half a sandwich in-front of me and I look at them. None of them want to tell me who gave it to me so I just eat it.

"I can make you a bento if you want."

"rei you don't have to do that. I'll be fine"

"vlad you need to eat something"

I look at peter and rei. I sigh.

"I have no way to pay you back."

"you don't have to!"

I look at yū when she says it.

"or you can if you want to!"

Yū smirks as she says it.

"hey we can take turns bring in food for vlad! It'll be fun! "

I look at Ace that says it happy. I just shake my head.

"you guys are to much"

I look at them then I look at the sandwich and I finish eating. Once lunch is over we go back to class and I'm bored once more. I count down the minutes till I can leave. Once the bell rings I run out and I smile seeing Peter.

"ready vlad?"

I nod and I hop on his bike.

"when we get to your house I need to do something first before we talk to your uncle"

"that's fine he doesn't get off work till five."

I nod and I hold onto my book as I look around. We pass my house and I hear Aidan yell.

"THE HELL ARE YOU GOING?!"

I just flip him off.

"should I stop?"

"no Pete just go."

After another five minutes we arrive at Peters house. Its much nicer then min that's for sure. Beautiful walls and a gorgeous garden.

"wow Pete ...this is beautiful"

"glad you like it. Its my house."

"figured. Is there somewhere we can go that I can try a spell?"

He nods walking behind the house and I see a small shed. He unlocks it and we walk in. Looks like he spends a lot of time in here. There's even a mini fridge. I look around and I stop at a desk. I watch peter clear off a part of it and I put the book down. I open it without my necklace this time.

"wait I thought you needed your necklace for that..."

"so did I but it seems like the marking on my hand makes it so I don't need it"

I look through the pages and I stop at one.

"this one. I was able to use oogle to translate it."

I go into his garden then before I pick anything I call to him.

"hey Pete can I pick some of this?"

He runs out and tells me what I can pick. I just close my eyes and pick at what feels right. I don't look till I head to the shed. Once in I mix them like I need to and I think about how to say the spell.

"okay here goes nothing......"

"wait what happens if you mess up?"

"I'll go blind."

"wE should think this through!"

"mortalitatis patitur per speculum videre"

I see the smoke puff up and clear and I smile putting it in a small vile.

"how did you know that would work vlad?"

"I didn't."

I smile at him.

"Hey does he wear glasses or not?"

He shakes his head.

"No he doesn't. "

I think and I look at him.

"Does he drink anything?"

"He usually has his coffee once hes home."

I smirk and I run into his hand and I look at peter. He gets my idea and he makes the coffee then I put the liquid in the coffee.

"Now hell be able to read the page like I can. I cant have him notice how its blank for everyone else. I can have you drink it as well if you want to but ill need to make more. Ill make more of it tomorrow for the club. Unless I can find one that will translate it for me."

I hear the door open. I look at peter.

"Hes here"
