LIA

Currently I’m standing in front of my locker, picking out the books that I’ll need for the first class of the day. Although it’s only wednesday, I’m thankful that this week is almost over. School can stress me out a lot- especially since I’m waiting to hear back from the universities that I applied for. My mom told me not to worry so much because If I don’t get into one then I’ll get into the next one since my grades are pretty good. I applied to the ones that I really like but the one that I really want to get into is either UCLA which is here in California and the other one is University of Rochester which has a better acceptance rate but it’s in New York. I would love to go to either of those two but if I did get accepted into both then that would cause me too much happiness and stress. Happiness because I could have the choice to pick between them both and stress because if pick the one in NY then I would have to move but if I pick the one in LA then it’s more convenient since it’s close by. Either way, Im planning on moving into the dorms because I want to have more of a college experience rather than just living at home.

My thoughts are interrupted by someone’s hands being placed on my eyes. “Guess who…” The raspy voice speaks from behind me and I know exactly who it is.

“Justin.” I say as he then removes his hands from my eyes in order to let me turn around to face him which I do.

“How’d you know?” His smile is evident on his face which makes me happy since there’s not many times when I see his smile instead of his oh-so famous smirk.

“I know how your voice sounds.” I chuckle at his obvious question.

“Yeah I guess I shouldn’t have spoken.” He responds, still smiling.

“Too late for that now.”  I smile back at him.

“You’re in a good mood today.” He notices.

“So are you.”

“Maybe I have something to be happy about.” He says.

“And that is?”

“You’ll see soon…”

“You just can’t bring something up and then not tell me.” I pout. Now I’m curious.

“Oh well. You’ll find out soon.” He teasingly responds back.

I’m sitting down in my seat for the first class of the day as I hear Callie and Justin whispering to one another. I know something’s up because they’ve been talking to each other and smirking at me since the class started and now it’s almost time to leave. Even though the teacher has been teaching her lesson, that doesn’t stop them from talking to one another without getting caught.

“What are you guys talking so much about?” I finally decide to question once the class is about to end.

“I told you Amelia, you’ll find out later.” Justin winks.

“Can’t I just know now?” I ask, already becoming frustrated.

“No you have to be patient.” He responds.

“It will be worth it if you wait.” Callie says.

“You guys are irritating.” I tell them both to see if they finally give up and tell me but all they do is laugh.

For the remaining of the class period, neither I or they bring up what they were both talking about. The teacher continues to teach her lesson and we all talk occasionally and not pay much attention but the subject isn’t brought up again.

The second class of the day goes by fast- boring but it was okay. I spoke to Sarah about what had happened earlier and she told me that she knew but that she couldn’t give me any information. So it seems as if everyone knows besides me.

The second class of the day was nice because it was just an elective so I didn't do much. As for the third class, I spoke to Joseph who I haven’t spoken to in a while. Now that I’m thinking about it, I never really spoke to him again after that party where I had met Justin. I guess that the little crush I had for him is long gone since I haven’t even payed attention to him until now.

Now I’m at lunch, waiting for my friends to get here because they aren’t here yet.

“Hey Lia.” Someone speaks from behind me. I turn around to see who it is and find Chris standing there along with two other guys who I don’t know the name of.

“Hey. I haven’t spoken to you in a while,” I smile at him as he opens his arms wide to give me a hug which I return. I could hear his friends making whistling noises beside us but I ignore them.

“We should hang out soon and catch up?” He offers. I’m not going to say that Chris isn’t attractive because that’s not true, but there’s really no connection between us. It wont hurt to become friends with him because guys and girls can be friends. I mean, he seems nice and all but that’s all.

“Sure, sounds good.” I respond.

“Yeah. Maybe sometime this week?” He questions.

“Okay.”

“Alright well you should go… your lover boy over there is looking at me like he’s going to kill me.” He chuckles.

“Oh… um. He’s not my ‘lover boy.’” I respond and laugh back although the laugh is completely forced.

“Yeah well tell that to him.” He says.

“Okay well I’ll talk to you soon, bye.” I say as he tells me bye back and I start to walk towards the table where Justin, Callie, Sarah, and Ethan are all sitting. They all look at me and wait for me to join them.

I decide to take a seat beside Justin. Surprisingly, he wraps his arm around my shoulder and continues to stare at Chris.

“Justin stop staring.”

“He’s a fucking pussy. What did he want?” He takes his eyes off Chris and brings them to find mine.

“Nothing. He was just having a normal conversation with me.” I respond.

“I don’t like him.” He bluntly says and I chuckle a bit at his attitude.

“You don’t even know him.” I shake my head from side to side at his behavior. Although he’s acting like this, I do find it humorous.

“I know that he want’s you and I don’t like that.” He looks at me with a look indicating that he’s dead serious.

“I don’t like him so there’s really no point in hating him.” I confirm.

“That doesn’t mean that he won’t do everything in his power to get you. I know guys like him.”

“But you’re a player too. You’ve said it yourself, so why is he so different?” I question.

“The difference is that once he get’s to fuck you once he’ll leave you and never speak to you again.” He says bluntly in a tone that’s loud enough for only me to hear. I look at Sarah, Ethan, and Callie but they all seem distracted by their own conversations.

“And you won’t do that?” I curiously ask.

“Never baby.” He responds.
