LIA

I spent all day Thursday hearing numerous amounts of whispers coming from my friends. They weren’t whispering to me, they were whispering to each other. At first I was trying to ask them what they were talking about but I soon gave up when I knew that they wouldn’t tell me. They promised me that it was nothing bad or anything that I should worry about. They told me that it was something that I should be excited about… whatever that may be.

Justin was his usual self. We had some laughs here and there but nothing big really happened yesterday. It was a regular day in school.

As for today, It’s currently Friday so I’m excited that the weekend is almost here once school ends.

“Okay class, for today we’re going to be working in partners but this time I’m going to let you guys pick out your partners. You can’t have more than 4 people per group.” The teacher announces in my first class of the day.

I look at both Justin and Callie and they both look back at me and at one another, giving each other a look that indicates that we’ll be working together.

We all set the tables and chairs together to start working. We heard the teacher explain what we had to do and then started with the project.

“You look beautiful today,” Justin whispers in my ear and I almost swoon by his compliment. I didn’t even dress up that much, I just decided to wear a white high-waisted skirt with a red crop top shirt along with some beige flats.

“Thank you,” I respond.

“When are you two going to finally date?” Callie blurts out. I give her a look and she chuckles in response.

“Umm…” I start to think about what to say but thankfully Callie speaks once again.

“I mean you guys need to date. You’ll be cute together.” She tells us.

I look at Justin to see what his reaction is and I can almost see him sort of blushing. He’s trying to hide it and he’s almost succeeding but not well enough.

“We do.” Justin surprises me by responding.

“Mhm…” I lowly mumble, hoping for the topic to vanish away which it does since I add something right after, “okay so what should we do next?” I ask, indicating to the class work.

Right when the class is about to end, Chris comes up to our table.

“Lia do you want to hangout tonight?” Chris asks me.

“I have to ask my mom but I’ll let you know.” I reply.

I hear Justin shrug beside me as I gently kick his leg in hopes that he won’t say or do anything to Chris.

“Okay just text me tonight and let me know.” He sends me a wink before he leaves.

“Oh fuck no.” Justin practically growls.

“Chill.” Is all that I respond back. I don’t want him to get all worked up for no reason.

“If you go out with Chris tonight then I’m going to that party tonight.” He informs me. What the hell?

“You can do whatever you want and so can I.” I respond.

“Good then I’m going to the party.” He states.

“It’s not like you weren’t going to go anyways.” I reply.

“Actually, I wasn’t.” He stands up from his seat once the bell rings that indicates that the class is over.

“Can you believe him?” I turn to my other side to face Callie.

“What he said was true Lia, I heard him saying that he wasn’t going to the party tonight.” She tells me.

“Why wouldn’t he go?” I curiously ask her.

“He said something about being over all of that, I don’t really know but I don’t think it’s right that you go out with Chris tonight.”

“We’re just friends… It’s not a date or anything.” I say.

“Well… just think about it.”
