~Aisha~

My alarm rang at exactly 6:30 AM, waking me up from a deep sleep. I had finally caught up on all my lost sleep and I was ready to start work again.

I had taken a half day today because I still had to pack for my trip tomorrow. I had literally begun nothing with the packing.

I got up from bed and switched off my bed lamp- like an idiot I had forgotten to turn it off.

I went into the bathroom and brushed my teeth and repeated the same routine as yesterday.

I chose to wear a white blouse, black trousers and a black fitted blazer today. I wore my standard glossy black 4 inch heels and looked at myself in the mirror.

Sometimes, I questioned myself where that young, pastel dress wearing 20 year old had gone, but then realised that it was futile to think like this. Time changes and people do too.

Maybe because I worked so hard I can afford to live such a luxurious life here in London.

Shaking my head to get rid of these thoughts, I tied my hair in a fishtail braid and applied minimal makeup. Just some mascara, eyeliner and a nude lipstick.

At exactly 8:45, I left for my office. My car had finally come back from servicing!

I hopped into my 2017 Buick LaCrosse, inhaling the new, fruity scent. It felt great to be back in my own car, driving to work.

About 10 minutes later, I was at the gate of my office, having parked my car and all.

I had chosen not to have a secretary, even though it was preferred that seniors have one.

The office started at 9:30, and the Starbucks below was already open and bustling with office goers and students of the area.

I decided to grab myself a coffee because I hadn't been able to get my hit of caffeine today. I even skipped out on the tea.

So, I got myself a grande pike place roast, the best hit of everyday coffee. I was so glad that we had a Starbucks just below our office.

I went inside the heated environment of the office, with people greeting me. I nodded and smiled at every one of them and got into the elevator.

Pressing the '26' button, I leaned on the elevator wall, sipping on my drink. After a few minutes, I was in my cabin, blinds down and door closed. I preferred people not looking at me while I worked.

There was a knock on my door and before I could reply, my senior, James entered.

"Good morning Aisha- how's the project coming along?" He smiled brightly at me.

Now, before you all jump to conclusions, James was a 56 year old guy and the head of the London branch of our company.

He wasn't some 32 year old hottie with whole I'd fall in love and we'd go backpacking around the world. James was just a jolly man in general, with 2 grown, married kids and 3 grandchildren.

"It's almost done, James." I replied back.

"That's good to hear. I'll let you go back to work, thanks for working hard." He nodded and got out of the room, closing the door behind him.
