"So how did you like the date?" I asked June on the phone.

"It was good but kind of boring. I mean I like Ben, but his conversations are not really interesting. What about you?" She replied.

"Same. Exactly the same. Ian's nice and all, but I don't know." I yawned.

"You have the day off tomorrow, right? You should catch up on that sleep. Good night." June said.

"Yes, thanks. Good night." I hung up.

I fell onto my bed, exhausted. I still can't believe how I survived that date after no sleep for 38 hours. That coffee works wonders.

I fell into a deep deep sleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.

It was around 12:36 when I woke up the next afternoon. I had never slept in so late, but those 12 hours of sleep really helped.

I sat Indian style on the bed, stretching. Getting up, I brushed my teeth and used the washroom. I started my tea maker and while it was brewing, made a light salad brunch for myself.

This is life. I wish I could wake up daily at this time and make a lazy brunch.

I sat at the kitchen island with my tea and salad and hungrily ate all of it. I slowly sipped the tea, smiling at the sweetness.

I put the dishes in the sink and washed them. I saw the time and it was 1:14 pm. I went to the bathroom, took a long bath and came out.

I felt especially relaxed so did some very light makeup and wore my favourite pink and black Victoria's secret pajamas, which had a button up collared shirt and shorts beneath.

I plopped down on the sofa with a blanket and turned the TV on. I had changed the channel to a travel one when I remembered I had to book my tickets to Japan.

Ever since I was a kid, I was obsessed with anything Japanese. I loved reading mangas. Even now, I'm a huge fan of J-dramas. I go to Japan atleast twice a year, or if I'm feeling like a spendthrift, thrice. I never get bored of that country.

The language, the culture, the people, everything is so interesting there.

I got my laptop and checked the tickets. I booked on my regular airline, first class, a one week trip. But this time, unfortunately, I was able to only visit for a week due to my work.

I had already taken leave for my cousin's wedding and then this trip. It was a good thing my project was almost wrapped up, otherwise I couldn't have gone.

After I was done booking the tickets and hotels, I finally sat down to watch TV. I guess it was after watching one movie, I fell asleep again.

When I woke up, it was around five. Now I was completely energised. I turned off the tv and got a water bottle. I changed into my workout outfit and grabbed my bicycle. I fit the bottle inside the holder and went out cycling.

I cycled for an hour when I stopped by the local supermarket to buy some groceries. After getting all the stuff (which majorly consisted of instant noodles and baked things) I set off for home.

I was tired after cycling so long. I hadn't gone cycling in a while but it was refreshing to get some exercise as well as the chores done.

It was a really productive day- I had done all my chores and I took a second shower, Even though it was mid November.

The markets were flooded with Christmas goods. I got a few presents for my family back in India.

I was flying out day after tomorrow and the wedding would be a few days from now. I was then flying to Japan before Christmas and ringing in the New Year there.

This period was the best time to visit Japan- the night views were absolutely stunning and the onsens would be at their most beautiful right now.

Just those snow covered peaks made ma excited to go to Japan.

I snuggled happily inside my blanket as I lay on the bed. I called mom.

"Namaste mummy. Kaisi ho? Yes I'm okay. I took a day off today. I'll be reaching around 9 PM IST. You what?!" I yelled suddenly.

"A blind date? Mom, I just told you, I have no interest in getting married! So what if I'm 27? I'm still young! Ugh mom no. I shall not be meeting another doctor who works in Dublin. No thank you." With that, I hung up on her.

My mom did this every time. Every time I started visiting her in India after getting my job and settling, she started setting me up on dates with NRIs, mostly engineers and doctors.

It was beginning to become her habit. Every time I went on the setup, rejected the man and came back. And every time my mother would scold me like how I was behaving like a child.

I sighed as I turned plugged my phone into charge and turned the lights off. I turned my bedside lamp on and picked up the book I was reading, The Forty Rules of Love.

After reading for about an hour, I fell asleep for the second time that day.
