Aisha's POV
Two Weeks Later
He still hadn't sent me a text and nor was I willing enough to send him one first.
I lacked the courage- I didn't know if we were still on or not. I was afraid of the response. This was the longest we had gone without talking. Even if we didn't talk we would chat over text. But this time it seemed over for real.
Mom was here for another week and I was glad. She completely understood what we were going through and I was grateful. But somehow I couldn't shake the feeling that she was kind of happy that me and Reo had fought- that made me vulnerable.
She still was trying to talk me into meeting Sameer but I still would decline. I didn't want to give up on us so easily. So as I lay in bed, I decided I had to send him a text. I set a deal with myself. If he left it on seen, then I would agree to meeting Sameer.
If he replied, I wouldn't. We would build us again. We hadn't fought over something very serious but it was something which couldn't be pushed away. I grabbed my phone and sent Reo a message without thinking too much into it.
Aisha: Are we still a thing?
I hit send and waited for a response. It was around 3 AM there and he was often online late into the night. I locked my phone and my heart was beating wildly. It was a decisive step. June knew about this too and had taken me out on many a girl dates.
We hadn't gotten drunk because I didn't want to walk into home drunk while my mom was here. But I think I really needed that.
I went to my mom's room where she was watching TV, some random Hindi movie. "Mom, I'm going out with June and I will be drunk when I come back. Thought I would just notify you." I grinned.
"Well I won't be able to stop you anyways so go do whatever you want." Mom shrugged. She obviously wasn't totally happy with my sudden idea but as she said, I wasn't listening to her anyways.
"Contact me in June's number, I'm leaving my phone at home."

I got ready in no time and June immediately agreed to my plan. I changed into a black fitted dress that reached my mid thighs and my killer heels beneath it. I really wanted freedom. My phone hadn't tinged yet but I was too scared to see if he had left it on read.
I brushed my hair and just as I was done, there was the taxi. Me and June went to the closest club to my place that wasn't filled with cheap weirdos and was expensive. We showed the IDs and the guard let us in.
The place was crowded- music was blasting and couples were dancing or making out on the floor. Some sat at the bar, chatting and drinking whereas others were just busy on their phones. I felt young again and not like a 30 year old being pressured into marriage.
We went to the bar and sat down, knocking on the bar to attract the bartender's attention. He gave us a once over but then settled on June. June was blatantly flirting back too. I was happy for her- we needed to let ourselves loose. I was doing all this because of a potential breakup.
We ordered shots after shots, however I was starting to get woozy with only 6. It burned my throat but boy did it feel amazing. We ordered beers after that and that we drank nicely- around 3 bottles each.
I was completely off but June was still better than me. She had a higher alcohol tolerance than I did. "We're drunk!" June slurred, her hand on my shoulder.
"Woo fucking hoo!" I yelled back, my eyes half closed. We were the definition of drunk bitches.
"Did you and Reo make up?" June asked quite concerned. I knew she wouldn't remember shit from tonight.
"Not at all. Zero progress." I made a zero sign with my fingers and almost ran it into her face. She grabbed my hands. "It's going to be okay Aishaaaaa." She was about to say something else when her eyes fell on a man in the bar.
"That looks like a fine piece of meat. Imma fish. Byeee." She slurred, leaving me alone at the bar. I looked at the watch.
"1:30 PM? We drank the entire night. Fuck." I slurred.
"It's 1:30 AM Aisha." A man's voice came to me. He sounded familiar- that smooth velvety voice. I turned around and squinted at him.
"Sameer! My man!" I yelled, giving him a small smile as I wrapped myself around him. He hesitantly wrapped his arms around me.
"Sit." I patted the seat June had vacated. He complied.
"My mom wants me to marry you." I blurted. "Bartender! Two more shots!" I yelled, making a two sign.
"That'll be enough bro. You're drunk Aisha." He didn't comment on my statement.
"Me marrying you! What a joke." I made a psh sound.
"Let's talk somewhere quieter. I'll take you to my place." He grabbed my hand and slipped a few notes to the bartender.
"Wait! LEMME PAY!" I drunkenly yelled, slapping Sameer's hands off.
"Aisha! Get a hold!" Sameee grabbed me by my sides and made me look at him. I could actually feel my alcohol come up a little. "You should move-" I couldn't finish as I threw up on Sameer's shirt and pants, both of which were probably Armani.
"Woops." I smiled and collapsed into him.
