"I hate flying- especially in cramped conditions." June complained as she sat in the seat next to me.
"We're flying first class."
"Still."
"Well, you still have 5 hours to go, so better bear it." I said, pulling my window shades down and putting my headphones.
June's reply was drowned out by K.Will's voice as I heard one of my favourite Korean songs.
I had been listening to OSTs for a while when I fell asleep. The lack of sleep was getting to me, we didn't want dark circles at the wedding now, did we?
———
A few hours later June nudged me, waking me up from a deep sleep. I took my headphones off.
"Where are we?" I asked groggily.
"We're almost there. We'll be landing soon." June smiled.
"Ah finally." I took my handbag and stuffed everything inside it. The book I was reading, my phone and earphones and went to the washroom.
I took out my travel makeup kit and retouched on my makeup. I reapplied a layer of lip balm and put it back in. I fixed my hair, tying it into a messy bun.
I came out of the washroom, my hand bag hanging on my arm.
I settled down on my seat just as the captain announced our descent.
A few minutes later, we were standing in the aisle, waiting for the line to move ahead. June talked on the phone with her elder sister, informing her about the flight.
I stood behind her, impatiently tapping my foot. Looks like God saw this, as the line started moving.
I was thankful for the slightly warm weather in Mumbai, as it was a welcome change from the stupid winter in London.
Sometimes I really thought I should've gone to a place like Hawaii and work there instead of London.
June inhaled loudly beside me as we stood on the Tarmac for a second, taking in the pleasant breeze.
"I like India just because of this- the nice, pleasant weather all year round." June smiled as we moved ahead, waking towards the terminal.
"Oh please- come to Mumbai during the summer- it'll give you an experience of over forty degrees Celsius." I shook my head, mentally thanking my aunt for holding the wedding in late November.
We were soon inside the air conditioned terminal, standing in the line for immigration.
Some time later, we were done with immigration and we stood at the arrivals part of the airport.
I scanned the crowd waiting at the railing for my mother. June too looked around, and then she let out a 'whoop' as she waved happily at my mother.
I smiled as I walked quickly towards my mother, who was waiting with a broad smile on her face.
"Mummy!" I attacked her with a hug. I stepped behind as she put her hands on my face, examining me.
