Teddy couldn't sleep Tuesday night. He was far too excited to be going to Hogwarts the next day. He had checked and rechecked his trunk three times that day, making sure everything was there. He had read through his new Transfiguration book, and a copy of Hogwarts: A History that Hermione had given him. He was bouncing in his seat as he ate his breakfast that morning. His grandmother just shook her head.
"Calm yourself, Teddy! Goodness, you'll be there soon enough!" She said to the boy who bounded out the front door when she mentioned it was almost time to leave. "Don't you think your forgetting something?" Teddy looked down at himself. Wand in his pocket, book bag with a set of robes and his Potions book in it, fully clothed. What was he missing? Andromeda shook her head again, flicked her wand, and his trunk floated down the steps to the front lawn. Teddy's eyes widened with realization and he mouthed an "oh".
"Alright then, come along." Andromeda strode down the steps and laid a hand on the trunk, and extended her other to Teddy. He hurried over to her and they disapparated and appeared in the bustling mess that is King's Cross Station. They hurried through the barrier and appeared on Platform 9 ¾, and Teddy couldn't believe his eyes. The giant red engine of the Hogwarts Express was even more beautiful than he could have imaged. Andromeda tugged on his hand to get him moving and they took his trunk over to the workers to be loaded. She lead him across the platform until she spotted the top of Harry's messy hair and went over to him. Teddy was so busy looking around at everything that he didn't even notice Harry until he spoke.
"Alright Teddy? You look a bit pale" he said to his godson. Teddy snapped his head around at the sound of his voice, eyes wide.
"Y-yea. Just...wow there are so many people...and the train...wow...it's huge!" Teddy started looking around again, taking in just the shear number of families here to put their children on the train. Suddenly very, very nervous, Teddy clutched onto his grandmother's hand a little tighter. Harry knelt down to look him in the eyes and held his shoulders so he would look at him.
"Don't be scared, Ted. You'll have some of the best years of your life at Hogwarts! You'll make some of your closest friends too, we all have. It's ok to be nervous, just know we are only an owl away if you need anything at all. And, I think you'll find there are more familiar faces around the school than you knew when you get there." Harry said with a wink. Teddy gave him a confused look. What could he mean? Teddy didn't know anyone at the school. All his cousins were younger than him...well....except for....
"EDWARD!" Teddy turned just in time to be slammed into by a ball of red hair. How could he have forgotten?
"Molly, for the love of Merlin, stop calling me that!" Teddy said through gritted teeth. Molly Weasley wasn't technically his cousin, but all of the Weasley's and Potter's had raised him as family, so they were in a sense the family he had. Closer than the actual blood relatives he had, the Malfoy's and the Black's. She was the oldest of his cousins, a year older than him. She was incredibly smart, obnoxiously loud, and for some reason, she insisted on calling him by his first name, which he loathed more than anything.
"Oh, Edward! Stop being such a grump! It's your first year at Hogwarts! I'm going to show you everything! I'll take you under my wing and you'll meet all my friends and it will be amazing!" Molly said pulling his arm along. He rolled his eyes. He didn't want to spend his school year with Molly or her friends. Knowing how Molly was, her and her Ravenclaw friends would be know-it-all's and he would lose his mind in the first few minutes.
"Molly, I don't even know what house I'll be in yet. You can't exactly expect to keep me attached to your side if I'm in a different house!" Teddy finally managed to free his arm and scurried to Harry's other side to avoid her vice-like grasp.
