A/N I'm well aware there are hundreds of stories about the Marauders. I'm aware because I have read MANY. The inspiration for the things said about them is based on the mountainous amount of reading I do. I have no intention of taking someone else's story. I also don't need it blasted to me if something reminds you of something else. Trust me, I have scoured the larger Marauders works I have read to ensure I have not taken anything from them word-for-word or otherwise. Just inspiration. Enjoy :)
The rest of the week flew by and before they knew it, it was Friday afternoon. Teddy was sitting beneath the big oak tree beside the lake, eyes closed as he leaned against the tree. Matt was laying on his stomach beside him, reading his History of Magic book.
"How can you read that thing? It's the only textbook I didn't touch before start of term." Matt glanced up at Teddy, whose eyes were still closed.
"I don't know about any of this stuff, so its interesting to read. Better than listening to Professor Binns drone on and on. At least when I read, my brain makes it a little less boring." Matt returned to his book and Teddy peaked his eye open. Matt was so engrossed in his book, but Teddy was bored of sitting by the tree. He closed his eye again and thought about how he could make the day more interesting. His eyes snapped open and a broad grin appeared on his face. He rolled sideways onto his stomach and positioned himself at the top of Matt's book. Matt glanced up at him and raised his eyebrow at the expression on Teddy's face.
"What?"
"I have an idea of something we can do today." Matt continued to stare at Teddy, then pointed to his book.
"This is what I'm doing today."
"Oh no its not. We're going to do something far better than that. Come on!" Teddy jumped to his feet and grabbed Matt by the back of his robes and hauled him off the ground, dragging him along as he ran. They stumbled down the steps, heading towards the common room.
"Where in Merlin's name are we going Ted?" Matt asked as he almost tripped rounding the corner near the common room.
"I need to get something from the dorm. Then we're going to explore." Matt cocked his eyebrow again, but Teddy had already tapped the password on the barrels and was dragging him across the common room. Tyson was sitting up in the balcony-like level of the common room and leaned over the rail when Matt and Teddy ran in.
"Do I want to know what you two are up to?" Teddy stopped at the bottom of the stairs to the dorms, a mischievous grin spreading across his face.
"Come with us and you can find out" Matt whipped his head to look at Teddy, then up to Tyson, who was sporting the same I'm-going-to-cause-trouble grin on his face. Teddy started dragging Matt again and started up the stairs. Moments later, Matt heard the thundering of Tyson's footsteps behind them, running to catch up.
Teddy threw open the door to their room, causing Zach to jump and fall off his bed. Teddy looked at him as Zach poked his head up over the side of his bed and raised an eyebrow. Teddy shrugged and pulled Matt into the room, Tyson following close behind and shutting the door. Teddy went to the end of his bed and started rummaging in his trunk, socks and clothes being tossed out as he went. Tyson looked from him to Matt, who had settled himself on his own bed.
"He always do this when he's in that trunk?" Matt looked over at Zach, who rolled his eyes.
"Have you met Teddy? This is all the time. And its not just the trunk." Zach gestured towards the desk at the far end of the room, which was covered in papers and small packages from his family. Next to the desk, Moony's "dorm" had received its very own gold sign like the one that was on their door as well as some little yarn flags hanging along the back of the large enclosure. The little niffler was sitting just inside the open door of her home, watching Teddy throw things out of the trunk. When a silver chain hit the floor, she scampered over and grabbed it from the floor. Stuffing it into her pouch, she scurried back before she was caught by her beloved friend.
