"So where to next mates?" Zach slung his arms over Matt and Teddy's shoulders as they exited the Defense classroom. Teddy pulled his timetable out and looked it over.
"Looks like we have a free period until lunch, then Care of Magical Creatures and Transfiguration this afternoon." Teddy pushed the parchment back into his bag. "Why don't we go drop off our bags and go explore. I have something to show you guys that you'll love!" Teddy started sprinting down the corridor, Zach and Matt close behind. They ran down the stairs into the dungeons. Teddy was so busy making sure his friends were following that he didn't see anyone in the hall in front of him until he smacked straight into them. He hit the floor with a thud, the person he hit slamming into the floor across from him. Teddy snapped his head around and started to apologize.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry! Here, let me help,"
"Don't touch me you filth halfblood," The boy that he slammed into sneered at him in disgust. Teddy stared at him in shock. No one had ever called him that in his life. Zach skidded to a halt behind Teddy and Matt smacked into his back. He peeked around to see what was going on and his eyes went wide with horror. He ducked his head back behind Zach, trying to hide himself from the bully from the train.
"I'm sorry? What did you just call me?" Teddy asked, staring in disbelief.. He almost instantly regretted the outburst as the boy he ran into was easily twice his size. The boy glared down at him.
"Oh, I'm sorry, do you prefer to be called a halfbreed, Lupin?" Zach's jaw dropped and Teddy just stared at him. "Pathetic little halfwolf hanging out with half bloods and mudbloods. Merlin, and to think you're a part of the Black family. Bloody disgrace to the name, just like your mother." The boy spat the words and they hit Teddy like a slap to the face.
"And who the hell do you think you are?" Zach shouted at the larger boy. He was almost as tall, but still much smaller.
"Jackson Parkinson, not that it's your business," he sneered again.
"You let Teddy alone!" Matt yelled from behind Zach.
"Oh look, the mudblood thinks he gonna" a spell slapped him across the arm before he could finish. He snarled and turned to see where it had come from. Tyson was storming down the hall, wand raised.
"Just what do you think you're doing, Parkinson?" He snapped as he stepped between him and the first years.
"Welcoming the new first years, of course. Part of my duties you know, as prefect" he spat the last word at Tyson like it was a weapon. Tyson crossed his arms and looked at him.
"Pretty sure your prefect duties don't extend past the snake pit, Parkinson. Now leave, or I'll gladly give you a detention to go with the sting on your arm" he held his wand up again and pointed it at Jackson. Tyson was big, really big, even compared to the tall Slytherin. Teddy hadn't noticed the prefects badge on his robes before. He didn't care then, and really didn't care now. He just wanted to leave.
"Have it your way, Michaels." Jackson turned on his heal and disappeared towards the Slytherin common room. Tyson turned to the first years, holding his hand out to help Teddy from the floor. He took it, but never met Tyson's eyes.
"Alright Teddy?" He tried to get Teddy to look at him, but he refused. He shook his head, not trusting his voice to speak. Tyson frowned and looked over at the other two boys. "What happened?"
"We were, uh, coming down to the common room to drop off our books and go exploring. We have a free period you see," Matt started.
"We were running, and Teddy wasn't paying attention and ran straight into that Slytherin bloke. Then when he tried to apologize, he started saying stuff to Teddy....mean stuff...stuff I didn't really understand why he was saying. He called Teddy a name...and when he questioned it...he called him a...a..." Zach looked to Matt helplessly, not wanting to upset Teddy any more than he already was.
