Chapter 6
I woke up to a constant knocking, more like banging, on my door which was really loud. I looked over to the other side of my bed, seeing Tori was gone. Ehh, she must be upset. I walked over to my door, dragging my feet.
"What mom?" I whined, it was only 8:30. My head was pounding hard from a small hangover that I had.
"It's your favorite person in the world!" The smooth male voice shouted. Was it Chase? No, it was my brother. I flung open the door as fast as I could, seeing a tall young man standing in the arch of my door. His hair was scruffy and he had grown so much since the last time I saw him. A giddy smile spread across my face as I looked at him.
"Lee!" I jumped onto him giving him a huge bear hug. He hugged me back kindly. My mom walked up to us and pretended to wipe a tear.
"That is so sweet, you two both getting along." She said like it was the strangest thing in the world.
"Yeah, well I still have to give her a beat-down for calling me 'Lee'." He scowled playfully at me. Lee was the nickname I gave him when I was four and couldn't pronounce 'Liam'.
I stared curiously at my brother who had once been a tall and muscular teenage boy who was famous for his awesome soccer playing skills. He had now become a tall handsome young man who had a five o'clock shadow.
"Want a picture? It'll last longer." he joked, interrupting my day dreaming.
"Shut up, Lee!" I scowled, making sure I put an emphasis on 'Lee'. He chased me down the stairs into the living room and caught up with me, tickling me until I was mad with laughter. Same old Liam.
"Stop kidding around guys, Vanessa sweetie, get dressed." My mom ordered shaking her head as Lee continued tickling me. He stopped and looked at mom shamefully. I jumped up.
"Why mom, it's only nine something?" I whined. She loved to get up early and go to bed early.
"We're going out to breakfast." she said as my stomach started to growl, almost on cue.
"Cool!" Me and Liam both said. I ran upstairs into my room and found a casual, floral dress that stopped right above my knees. I strapped on a pair of peach-colored wedges and then straightened my hair.
We got into my mom's luxurious mini-van and headed to Ma Cherie which is downtown. My mom and Lee made small talk about his flight and air plane food. Ugh. I had to break in.
"So Lee, how do you like Alaska?" I asked very curious. I looked at colleges there but I wouldn't be able to stand the coldness.
"It's really great, especially downtown." he said enthused. "You should see the amount of snow there, it's amazing!" A sudden happiness had overcame him. I shivered just thinking about it.
"Do you ever think about living there?' I ask, afraid of the answer. If he stayed there that meant that I wouldn't be able to see him as often. I frowned at the thought.
"Well" he paused. "I have thought about but I was thinking somewhere a little warmer." I let out the air I had been holding in while waiting for his answer.
"Have you met any girls that you like?" My mom butted in, annoying me.
"I actually wanted to talk to you guys about that." he said nervously. I furrowed my brows at his answer.
They seated us at the back of the restaurant were we had a view of the crystal blue lake outside. The sun light glimmered over the lake and bounced onto the window we were sitting by and seriously hurt my eyes. Stupid reflections.
