“I do like you Fitz, I have liked you since the first day we met. Every time you grabbed my hand I willed it not to sweat. I worried you would hear my heart beating fast when you were close. I never knew how to tell you and I didn't want to risk ruining our friendship. And then we started training to be cognates and I knew it meant so much to you that I REALLY didn't want to ruin it and I tried to stop liking so many times but I couldn't.”

“I’m glad you couldn't stop liking me.” Fitz said the grin returning to his face.

Sophie had thought last night when Fitz kissed her on the cheek that he liked her but seeing the grin on his face, she 100% knew it. The gold flecks in her eyes shined brighter than the sun and her smile was one of the happiest Fitz had ever seen.

“What happens now Fitz?”

“First, I say we finish some homework together, then tonight can I take you on a date?”

“A date?”

“Yes, that is if you want to.”

“Of course I want to go on a date with you!”

Della and Alden were beaming when Fitz explained that he and Sophie had finally talked and that he was taking her out on a date that night.

After a quick lunch by the lake they worked on their homework together. The familiar efficiency of studying together worked to their advantage and by late afternoon they had both caught up on everything they needed to. Sophie decided rather than face another makeover from Biana it would be best if she headed home to get ready, her only request was something that she didn't have to wear a fancy dress for. Fitz agreed and said he would come pick her up around  six that evening.

Fitz had liked Sophie for so long and he wanted this to happen but had never believed it actually would. He had no idea what kind of date to take her on. Sophie had asked specifically not to wear a dress, so that ruled out Atlantis or Eternalia. They could go to dinner in Mysterium but that seemed kind of boring and they had just gone to dinner the night before. He wanted something special they had never done together before so that their first date would be memorable, he also wanted it to be somewhere safe where Sophie couldn't get hurt. Ending up in the healing center would not be the end of the night he was hoping for.

Unfortunately he was stumped. Maybe his parents would have a good idea, they had been the one to set up the night before and that had been a success. He made his way to his dad's office to find it empty, he stared out the window when an idea hit him. He knew exactly what the perfect first date would be. He just needed a little help from the gnomes.
