Sophie's mentor that day was very impressed with how much work she had been able to catch up on over the weekend which was very encouraging. She was coming right along doing her 5th year in half the time but the next 6 weeks were going to be intense and she would have to pass her midterm exams to be able to continue with the plan to graduate at the end of the year.

Sophie decided to skip lunch that day and visit with Lady Nissa in the tutoring center. As much as Sophie loved eating with her friends she wasn't ready to dissect every moment of her date with Fitz.

“Miss Foster, what a pleasure to have you visit the tutoring center. Are you here to help someone?” Lady Nissa asked confused why Sophie was coming during lunch.

“No I was hoping you could help me get started studying for my midterms coming up in 6 weeks. I am worried about my Elvin history. I know with my photographic memory it should come easy, but I still get things jumbled with my human history sometimes.”

“I would love to help you, I am just unprepared at this time to really give you much assistance. Can you meet me after school and I will prepare some study guides for you?”

“That sounds good, let me check with Edaline about skipping my chores today. Do you care if I stay through lunch. I really need to concentrate and I worry if I go to the cafeteria it will be too distracting.”

“You are welcome here anytime. What other classes are you studying for?”

“Elementism, multispecial, and metaphysics. I will be taking all my midterms for level 5 in 6 weeks and finals during the regular midterm. I am hoping I can pass and start level 6 after the break.”

“Well you certainly are ambitious! I have never had a student fail and I won't let you be the first. Let's figure out a regular study schedule and we will make sure you get all the help you need, I do run weekend tutoring in the Gold tower if we need to meet then as well. You would need to get special permission from Master Cadence to visit but you have had classes there before so I would assume entry would be allowed.”

Had Sophie just heard correctly, she could potentially get extra tutoring in the towers on the weekend? Oh my goodness that would be perfect, if Fitz went to tutoring for help they could study together! She would need to get permission from Master Cadence who she was on better terms with since she joined the Blackswan but still didn't like that Sophie didn't work hard on her Polyglot ability and refused to learn mimicking. Maybe Sophie would wait a little before pushing for Saturday tutoring right away.

Regardless she decided to hail Edaline and ask if she could skip her afternoon chores to stay at school to come back to the tutoring center for more help. Edaline agreed that school should come first but that Sophie needed to be home for dinner. Sophie promised she would be there and went back to studying.

Fitz went about his day back in the towers fairly routinely. His morning classes went well and his mentor was very impressed with his report on the Goblin's for multispecial studies. Fitz made a mental note to thank Sophie for her insight into Gildingham. He was headed to lunch when he saw Taron in the hall chatting with Keefe. Just seeing Taron again made Fitz tense up, whatever he was up to Fitz knew he was not going to be happy.

“Hey Keefe, Taron.” Fitz said as he walked up to the boys his voice changing as he said each boys name.

“Taron here was just telling me how he ran into Foster this weekend in Eternalia.” Keefe started to tell Fitz.

“Yes I know.” Fitz said through his teeth his jaw clenched a little too tight.

“He wanted me to hail Foster for him and see”

“Stay away from Sophie.” Fitz said forcefully interrupting Keefe and glaring at Taron.

“Why should I? She didn't say anything about having a boyfriend when I was talking to her, in fact I think she liked hearing me tell her about the flowers in the garden.” Taron replied smugly.

“Things changed after she talked to you, so just stay away.” Fitz said with his eyes narrowing and his fists starting to curl.

“Come on Fitz, let's go get some lunch.” Keefe said pulling Fitz away. When they got out of earshot Keefe stopped and put his hands on Fitz’s shoulders. “Calm down dude, he was just trying to rile you up. He knows he doesn't have a chance with Sophie, he just wants to look cool by being seen with her.”

Fitz paused for a second thinking about what Keefe said, what if other guys were hitting on Sophie during school? What if she started liking someone else while Fitz was locked up for 6 weeks? What if mind looping didn't work?

A familiar wave of panic rushed over Fitz.

“Fitz you need to calm down, I don't know what is going through your head right now but seriously it is going to be ok. I only get that much panic when Foster is freaking out that someone is going to die or something.”

Fitz let out the breath he didn't realize he was holding. He didn't need to panic, he trusted Sophie. The trust they shared was special and he wasn't going to let anything come between them. Still he decided to figure out a way to keep reminding her how much she meant to him.
