Just a little idea I had ;)
You stood in front of the full length mirror in your room in only a bra and underwear, staring at your reflection in disdain. The stretch marks left behind by your son were clear as day in the fading sunlight. You ran your hand over your stomach, feeling the cool metal of your wedding ring as it slid across your skin, the change in texture like the shift of warmth and cool in the ocean tides. The memory of your once smooth and unblemished skin flooded your thoughts, but they were interrupted by the opening and closing of your bedroom door. You watched as your husband entered the mirrors reflection, his face plastered with a bright smile. You instinctively covered your torso with your arms, causing his happy demeanor to fall in disappointment.
"What is wrong, Y/N?" he wondered. You scoffed quietly.
"More like what isn't wrong...," you mumbled.
"I'm not sure I understand," he urged, raising an eyebrow. You threw your arms down in exasperation.
"Look at me!" you cried. "I used to be skinny and beautiful. Now I just have thunder thighs and these ugly stretch marks!"
His concern was clearly written in the lines of his forehead as he shook his head and frowned, looking down. He slowly stepped forward and pressed himself against your back.
"No, my dear, you are mistaken," he assured you, gingerly placing his hands on your hips. "Do you see my arms?"
You looked down at his arms, studying the arbitrary pattern of scars that decorated them.
"These scars were received in battle. At first I loathed them for the pain they caused, but they made me strong. They gave me power. They showed me the meaning of being a leader," he explained. You lightly touched them, admiring the meaning behind each one.
"These are not stretch marks," he continued, gently tracing the lines on your abdomen with his finger tips. "These are battle scars. You are a queen, a leader, and a warrior. Most importantly, you are a creator. Without these, we wouldn't have our son."
As if on cue, the baby monitor on Thor's nightstand came to life with the sound of Troy's cries.
"I'll take care of him. You should get dressed; I want to take you somewhere," he beamed, slowly letting go of you and kissing your cheek. As he disappeared from the room you looked back to the mirror, but this time without the discontent that you harbored only moments ago. You were filled with new life, and as you made your way to your closet you knew that you truly could not have asked for a better husband.
