Just Friends

Neji woke up to the sound of laughter. It sounded a lot like an innocent child's laughter. He closed his eyes again to determine where the sound was coming from; it was coming from outside his bedroom window. The laughter had such a soothing effect on him. Innocence and purity, that was what it sounded like.

"Are you going to be sleeping the entire morning or are you actually going to get up?" A familiar voice asked him.

Tenten

She had climbed onto his bedroom window to check on him. The Hyuuga Guards were well acquainted with her that they did not bother to stop her from doing so.

"Why were you laughing?" Neji wanted to ask, but his voice was caught in his throat, the only sound that it made was a hoarse grunt.

The moment Neji gave a mere grunt to her as a reply, Tenten knew something was up. He hardly took in verbal assaults from her, he usually replied with a good and elegant come back. Tenten announced loudly, "I am coming in Neji."

Tenten stood up from her crouched form and entered gracefully through the window. She sauntered carefully towards Neji, who was still lying on his belly, covers pulled up all the way to his neck.

"Neji?" Tenten asked worriedly, Neji opened up his eyes again to see her bent form standing right in front of him. Her face was inches away from his, before he could protest, Tenten held her right hand up on his forehead to feel his skin.

She gasped as soon as he skin touched his and cried out, "You are burning up!"

Neji pushed himself up with all of his might, he covers fell to his waist as he did so, revealing his bare and well sculpted body to his teammate, Thank god he was wearing his boxers last night.

"I'm fine.." Neji managed to exclaim gruffly in an irritated voice but Tenten was having none of that. She was already smearing blood on a scroll that she brought along everywhere she goes and took out painkiller pills. She found a glass and a jug of water on his bedside table and quickly poured him a drink.

"Take this.." Tenten thrusted the pill onto his hand, Neji sighed. There was no way he could argue in his weak state, he obliged and placed the pill in his mouth before Tenten fed him the drink, he blushed by the sudden intimate contact and quickly grabbed the glass away from her grasp and continued drinking the water by himself. He was Glad that he drank the water, it soothed the dryness of his throat.

"What are you doing here?" He managed to ask in a hoarse voice.

Before Tenten could reply, another voice interjected, "Tenten, What is taking you so Long? Where is Neji..?" NEJI?!?!?"

Lee's yells could be heard from one room to another. His shrill voice vibrated through the huge Hyuuga estate, possibly waking up some of them who were still in their morning slumber. But just like Tenten, the Hyuuga clan were pretty much used to Lee's antics as well. Some of them memorised the schedule of Team Gai's training just so that they can use ear plugs in the early mornings of the days that Lee pays a visit.

"Keep it down, Lee!" Tenten snapped as she covered her ears using the palm of her hands.

"I-I couldn't help it! I have never seen Neji in this state! Being under the weather makes him look pretty unyouthful." Lee retorted.

Neji did look horrible though, gone were his calm, composed aristocratic features. His disheveled hair, sweaty skin and blood shot eyes looked like he just had too many drinks last night. But their teammates knew better, Hyuuga Neji would not drink, not for leisure. If needed be, it would be because he had to, when he was on a Mission. Despite his messed up state, he somehow managed to rock the look- it made him look, human. A different side of him that others rarely get the honour to indulge themselves in. He looked, from a woman's perspective: like a hot mess.
