Perfecting the Jutsu

The four men were training at team 7's former training grounds. Kakashi's new genin squads were supposed to be training there on that particular day, but Kakashi had made a peculiar bet with them prior to the start of the day.

"For today's training; you will just have to beat one of us. If you succeed, you get the day off and ramen coupons. If you lose, you will get nothing except for the day off." Kakashi suggested.

Neji, Naruto and Sai sweat dropped at the back.

"Is this one of your tricks again old man?" Hikaru, an obnoxious genin student who was from the Hyuuga clan asked.

"No, it isn't and stop calling me that." Kakashi replied calmly.

"I hate you." Hikaru sighed out as he scanned the four of them Using his byakugan.

"So.. which one shall we fight?" Sotaru, a genin with blazing red hair asked Hikaru.

"Yeah, which one, Hikaru?" Airi, a little girl with dark brown hair that was tied up in a high bun above her head asked excitedly as she twirled the kunai alternately around her ring and middle finger.

Neji's eyes were instantly fixed onto her, she resembled his only female teammate; Tenten. Airi was looking intently towards Hikaru, she had a look of pure adoration towards her teammate. The same look that Tenten used to cast him.

Neji recalled the day when he was promoted to a joining whilst his teammates had just been promoted to chunnins. Gai had insisted that they celebrated the night with a team dinner. He smiled at that memory.

Lee mistook alcohol as a glass of water and had unfortunately taken a sip of it. One sip was all it took for Lee to lose it and became crazy. He wrecked the restaurant up by chopping everything that he could get his hands onto. Gai tried his best to restrain his prized pupil while Neji and Tenten walked out of the restaurant. Gai would never allow them to hurt Lee whenever he got drunk, so he had to usually bring him down by himself.

"Say, Neji.." Tenten started as they walked silently (the background was filled with Gai's shrieks and Lee's hysterical laughter coming from the restaurant a few feet behind them) away from the restaurant.

"Hm?" Neji replied distractedly, he saw one of the chair that presumably belonged to the restaurant that they had visited earlier, flew out from the restaurant window.

"You were so cool in the desert. When you rescued Gaara and Fu from the monk.. That was really something else." Tenten exclaimed.

Neji nodded as he looked up towards the night sky. It was a beautiful night, the dark sky was filled with bright stars, twinkling its dashing lights for the world to see. The moon was alluring, full and captivating as it illuminated its brilliant light down towards the earth. He wondered why Tenten had stopped talking, his eyes gazed towards the brunette before him and saw her eyes glint in the darkness. A look of pure adoration was etched in those big chestnut coloured eyes. Her cheeks were slightly red; she was blushing as she looked at Neji.

Neji frowned and asked, "What's wrong? Are you unwell?"

Tenten shook her head silently, she looked uncomfortable all of a sudden. She shifted from one foot to another as her eyes gazed towards the ground.

"Tenten? Is there something you wish to tell me?" Neji asked her quietly.

"I.. Neji..I.." Tenten started stammering the words out.

Neji looked at her patiently, she was not herself that night. She never stammered, the cold of the night never bothered her, he was wondering why she was red in the face and she hardly looked uncomfortable before him.
