They might actually get along in this one. So enjoy ♡ (also this is abit of a filler bc in the next chapter they finally go on their first mission!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~"Alright. Who the hell did it?" Caleb angrily asked, standing infront of Millie and Finn.
They were both covered in slimy substance that made Millie's stomach churn. Their bodies were sore and purple bruises were evident all over. Another failed practice mission.
The task had been to make it across the room.
The catch, the floor was covered in a pool of slime. They had to balance themselves on a wooden beam. Of course, they had to do it together.
Which never really ended well.
Millie stood silently. Knowing full well it had been her fault.
Finn had given her way to many orders, in the end she gave up. Finn had tried to hold her up but they both ended up falling.
"Lay off the damn candy bars..." She recalled Finn saying.
It wasn't her fault he had the body strength of a newborn.
"One of you, say something. We've been trying for days to prepare you both. One of you does not put in the effort, I'll have to send you straight to jail..." Caleb warned
Millie tensed up. There went her chances, there went her freedom. If she didn't say anything, she was sure Finn was.
And he did.
Just not what she expected.
"It was me." Finn suddenly spoke. "I....I was shooting orders left and right. I pushed her too far. I'm sorry." he mumbled
Millie's eyes widened. He was taking the fault for her? Especially under the circumstances....he could be sent to jail.
As annoying as he was, she couldn't let him take the blame.
"It was actually me. I didn't listen and we both fell because of me. I'm also sorry." Millie admitted, feeling hesitant.
She looked over at Finn, she could tell he was trying hard not to grin.
Caleb looked to Gaten, who was curiously watching from the sidelines.
"We're not taking you to jail. I just wanted to see if you could take responsibility for your actions. And you did. Go get some sleep now." Caleb dismissed.
"Thanks." Millie muttered as they walked to their rooms.
A memory/dream
Millie sat in the corner, watching the others kids chase eachother. She was twelve, though most of them were eight. Their laughter echoed through the small house, their tiny footsteps prominent.
The loud banging of heels against a wooden floor inched closer and closer. The kids froze, running to their beds and hiding under the sheets. Except Millie ofcourse, they were safe as long as she was there.
A middle aged lady walked in, face slathered with makeup, wearing the most extravagant knockoff's the world has ever seen. Atleast that's what Millie thinks.
"I thought i told you rats to go to sleep!" She yells
The kids flinch.
"Sorry Ms. Havisham...." The kids say in unison.
Millie looks up at her. "It's four in the afternoon, they're kids. Let them play." She says, but by the look on the lady's face she instantly regrets it.
