"It was yesterday, it took everything in me not to look back. Not to run up to him and say I was sorry. I don't know, I guess i just feel weird being on my own again. I needed someone to talk to." Millie spoke through the phonebooth, letting the wire curl through her fingers."You can always count on me. But just as well, so it's over between you two?" The other voice asked
Millie sighed, "How can something that never even started end?" She let out
The other line stayed silent for abit, unsure what to say. "Where are you now?" Natalia asked
Millie looked at her surroundings, she was about to board a bus that looked almost completely full. "I'm going to meet my family." Millie informed
Natalia smiled through the line, "That's great Millie, seems to me like you don't have time to be sad when something as big as this is happening. Good luck." She regarded
And with that Millie ended the call, putting her bags beside her so no one would sit next to her. She was convinced she wanted to be alone, even though it felt like something was missing.
A big part of her life was missing.
Yes, she missed Finn, but she would never admit it again. She needed to forget about him, after what he had done, after he had promised. It would be stupid.
Looking out the window, she rested her head in her hand, "I'll see you soon Mom, and dad..."
She mumbled, unaware of what was to come.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finn sat on the couch of the motel he was staying in. His clothes were dirty, hair a mess, and he had his clothing all over the floor.
He had always thought that the day he would see his mother would be a dream come true.
They would have a party and catch up and talk all they could. He would tell her of all the things he's seen, he even thought he might introduce her to Millie. Once the running was over, they would all be happy again.
But he couldn't see her now.
Not like this.
All his positivity had been flushed down the toilet along with the happiness he was once been filled with.
He started at the chipped wall, reminding him of Millie's old apartment, the one he had briefly stayed at.
He chuckled, at least this door stayed attached.
Alcohol seemed to be his new best friend, because he was relying on it more and more.
He walked to the bar downtown, it was small, like a coffee shop. But it was better than nothing.
He sat on a stool, looking at the people who were there. A girl on the other side with bright blue hair. "Think she killed a smurf-" he began to joke, looking over though he didn't finish the sentence. The chair was empty. That's right, Millie wasn't by his side anymore.
"What can I help you-" one bartender began to say
"It's how can I help you," the other one corrected
"You know Joe, you're really testing me today!" The other shot back
"Well Charlie, I am the damn manager of this place, might as well help you get an order right." The guy named Joe said
