At first, Lucy thought that she doesn't have a neighbor on her right side of the house. It had been a week she's here and yet the house seemed empty. No lights at night, no human movement. That was until she saw a car, parked in the garage. It wasn't there last night though?
With help from Juvia and Erza, she managed to finish her mini garden yesterday.
That was when she saw a man on her neighbor's lawn. He was facing on the other side. From the back, he looked like he was just back from his office. The man was wearing a formal shirt and black slack. He was tall and built.
Maybe the owner was back? But since her Dad strictly said to her not to greet anyone. The thoughts of seeing her neighbor's face were thrown away.
She was starting to water the garden when something started to move inside her mini garden. The rustling of leaves caught her attention and she hesitantly bends down. "Please don't be a snake, please..."
As she muttered slowly, the thing suddenly moved out from the bushes "Kyaa!!" Lucy yelped in surprise and fell down not-so-gracefully on her butt.
"Are you okay there?" Her neighbor who's ignoring her just now suddenly appeared next to the wooden fence. As she looked up to see the mysterious neighbor, she thought her heartbeat quickened.
The first thing that brings her attention was his peculiar yet striking pink spiky-haired, and next was his incredibly good looking face. He looked taken aback for a while before looking back at her in concern.
"Heave-ho!"
Lucy gasped when he effortlessly jumped the wooden fence and strode to her side. He held his hand for Lucy to take. She was confused, but she remembered she was still on the ground. She gratefully took the hand and he pulled her up in standing position.
The leaves started to rustle again and Lucy jumped a bit, hiding behind her new neighbor, gripping on his arm too tightly perhaps, but that wasn't her first attention right now. Luckily he made no comment. Both looking over. The pink-haired man shield her, looking a bit worried.
"Happy?!" The man exclaimed and Lucy looked over to see a blue kitten? "Blue?" She questioned. The man grinned and bend down, bringing the cat into his arm.
His laughter erupted, and Lucy somehow felt it was contagious as she smiled softly. "He's my cat, Happy! I groomed him. Now he looked like Doraemon but much cuter!" He patted the cat in his arm. "He must've escaped from its home," he added.
Lucy winced as she heard that he groomed his cat. Well yes, the cat was cute...but that might've been a traumatic experience for it. That blue color was striking after all. What did he use by the way? Permanent paint? Dye?
"You're the newcomer here right? I'm your neighbor, Natsu Dragneel. Nice to meet you. And welcome?" He grinned. "I'm Lucy Heartfilia, nice to meet you," Lucy replied. It was actually a good thing that they don't use their family name as a group. So both have no need to hide it. Maybe...maybe Lucy heard that name before but it didn't ring a bell.
Natsu leave when he received a call. He excused himself and moved onto his house, the blue cat nuzzling his arm.
Lucy likes his easygoing personality. He'll never be a threat no? But she might've made a wrong decision then...
