Coaxing

∠( ᐛ 」∠)＿ I wish everyone who's reading this is safe, happy, and healthy.

Juvia hears knocking from the front door. At that time she was boiling water to make hot chocolate for Lucy. Lucy kept herself locked in her room and refused to talk with Juvia. But she understands her condition that's why she wants to make hot chocolate to soothe her.

 She stops and opened the door to see Natsu standing awkwardly while holding something in his shirt. For once she thought that was a gun and she was being cautious. But Natsu realized her wary face and shows what in his shirt to her.

"I don't think Lucy-san wants to see anyone right now Natsu-san," her face was solemn.

"Yeah, I know. Erza told me everything and asked me to take care of her. Can I see her for a while?" He hears the woman in front of him sighs. He was dejected and thought he was not welcomed but then Juvia slowly opened the door wider and gestured for him to enter.

"Lucy-san's in her room. Upstair take right, the pink-colored door." He thanks her and was climbing the stairs when she calls him.

"Please comfort Lucy-san." Her voice is slow but Natsu clearly heard it. Since she was looking down Natsu doesn't know what kind of expression is on her face. He could only nod and continue walking up the stairs.

"Lucy laid in her bed, her pillow was already soaked with tears. She asked Juvia to let her stay alone for a while. When she hears a gentle knock on her bedroom's door.

"Lucy?" That was not Juvia's voice like she thought.

"Hey, it's me Natsu. I heard what happened. Can you open this door?" his voice was gentle and soothing. It was no longer that booming cheerful voice he usually has. She was contemplating at first but somehow she felt better when she heard that voice.

Natsu was waiting on the other side of the door. Maybe Lucy wants to have her private time but Natsu thinks that she needs someone right now. He holds the thing inside his arm gently as he waited for Lucy to answer. After a few minutes, he decided to knock again and coaxed her. But then the door opened.

Immediately he was pulled into a hug. She was warm and smell so good, but she was sobbing. His heart clenched in pain. Every sob felt like a stab through his heart. He can't bear to see her like this. With one arm, he holds her close against his body. Patting her head softly.

"You want to talk about it?" she shakes her head slowly.

"Emm, if that so then I'll lend my shoulder. You can cry all you want,"

Lucy can feel a warm small thing placed in her arm. She looked down to see Happy which curled softly. Slightly purring, the cat rubbed his head against her as if trying to comfort her. She pets it back and didn't say anything when Natsu ushered her back to her bed.

She sits at the corner of the bed while Natsu kneeled down in front of her holding her fingers and caressing them. That gesture softened her heart.

"Why does it hurt so bad?" in the end, she decided to talk. Her misty eyes meet the determined pair of onyx orbs that stare back at her as if she was the most treasured item in the whole world.

"If there's magic, I want magic that can stop these tears," she starts sobbing again.

It will be alright I'm here for you.

"No, you don't understand," she watches as he frowns a bit. A deep longing is reflected on his face. Lucy bit her tongue feeling guilty. Seeing his grieving face, Lucy knows that she's overboard.

"I'm sorry Natsu I didn-" but the man shook his head.

"It's okay. It happened a long time ago. I lost my brother, Zeref. You want to hear my story? " she nods her head quietly.

Natsu told her everything. How good his relationship with Zeref was and his brother used to be a successful normal businessman once. How he fell in love with this town no one beauty, Mavis. But on their way to their own wedding, both got involved with an accident.

"When we found them Mavis is already dead while she was holding my brother's hand. My brother was hospitalized for months, but he too didn't make it through," he finished

"Death takes the body, but our mind holds the memories. Our heart keeps love." closing his eyes he reminisces that couple bright smile. It was a tragic ending for them, but he was sure both of them were happy to meet in heaven.

"They might not be with us physically. But they are there. Here," he brings Lucy palm on his chest.

"In our heart. Always."

Juvia stands outside, holding a tray with two cups of hot chocolate still steaming hot. Her lips form a small curved upward. It was a relief that she lets Natsu inside. She wishes her Gray-sama would be that sweet to her too.

IDK why I let Natsu carry Happy in his shirt but I think it was interesting lol.
