The bus pulled up to the school. My jaw was agape as I stared out the window at the school. It was huge. It looked more like a castle than a school. It was really beautiful. There seemed to be cherry blossom's surrounding the bottom of it. There were students practicing magic all over the place. I also saw quite a few teachers wearing official dress, and a few people roaming around as their animals.

Students piled out of the bus and Violet gently urged me forwards as I was snapped out of my trance. I stumbled off the bus, and almost toppled to the ground, but luckily Violet caught me with one hand. "Thanks." I said, gratefully.

"Of course." She said, shyly. "I'll see you around. If you need anything just let me know." Violet waved and began walking away. I was about to stop her and ask for help finding my classes, but I didn't want to annoy her.

'I can do this on my own..' I thought, 'I'm...independent.' My eyes wondered up the school. It really was huge.

I looked around. There were hybrids of all types. Giraffe, lion, squirrel, monkey, skunk....Skunk... I stopped and looked at the skunk hybrid. She looked really confident. She wore short high-waste jean shorts with the pockets hanging out the bottom. She was really attractive. She was flirting with some boy who shook his head and walked away. The skunk hybrid sighed and leaned against the fence.

'Who am I kidding? I'm not independent

'Who am I kidding? I'm not independent. Maybe she'll help me.' I thought. I knew I was just giving myself a reason to talk to her. I reached in the inside pocket of my skirt and pulled out my folded schedule.

"Uh..excuse me.." I said, walking up to her. She looked at me.

"Could-could...would you mind helping me find my classes?" I looked down at the short skunk hybrid, noticing she had a sucker in her mouth.

"Sure thing." She said, glancing at my schedule, "You new?"

"Uh yeah. I'm Beatrice."

"Starella. Nice to meet your acquaintance."
I giggled.

"What's your first hour?"

"Er..science. Room 204."

Starella whistled as we began walking towards the school. I was amazed she could do that with a sucker in her mouth.

"You got lucky. Mr. Junior will be your teacher. He's pretty chill. Get on his good side and he'll like you. He'll probably really like you, since you look so innocent." She took the sucker out of her mouth and winked at a zebra hybrid walking by.

"Wha..? Innocent?"

"See!? That's just what I'm talking about!" She chuckled, "You look and act the part of an innocent new girl. He'll love you, he always makes friends with new students. He'll probably be the only teacher that favors you though, so don't get used to it."

"Why's that?"

"Oh the other teachers will probably hate you and pick on you because of your hair." Starella looked up at me with one black eye.

"My hair?"

"Yeah. The pink tips are cute, but I mean, c'mon. New girl shows up with pink-dyed hair, they'll think your a rebel. Like me." She winked at me. Not a flirty wink, but a friendly wink.

We entered the school but I barely noticed. 'She called me cute.'

We began walking up the stairs. "You're lucky you asked me." She began, "I know every dusty vent in this stupid school, and every stupid teacher in this stupid school. And every stupid thing about every stupid teacher."

"How long have you been going here?" I asked, slightly intimidated, thinking she had gotten held back.

"Only three years. I just know all that stuff because I've gotten in trouble a lot. They have detention rooms in every corner of the school." She chuckled and stuck the lollipop in her mouth.

"I'll introduce you to Mr. Junior. Make sure to call him 'sir' or 'Mr.' he likes respectful people." She took a sudden left turn and I quickly followed.

"Yo Mr. Junior." Starella greeted the teacher. He sighed.

"What is it, Starella?"

I came to stand beside her and looked at the teacher who was sitting at his desk. He was a kangaroo hybrid. He had large ears and tan fur, his eyes were dark and glittering, squinted. He had a cigar in his mouth.

"I brought you fresh meat." Starella said. I looked at her, shocked.

"Nah, I'm jus' kiddin. I found a new girl. Her names Beatrice."

"Ah, nice to meet you, kid." Mr. Junior extinguished his cigar on the desk and stuck his paw out for me to shake it. I shook it.

"Nice to meet you to, sir." I said, shyly.

He grinned.

"K. I'm out. Cya Bea!" Starella swung around the classroom doorframe and left in the hallway just as students came pouring into the classroom.

"Don't worry, kid." Mr. Junior winked, "I'll go easy on you."
