//Picture Of Beatrice ^^//
I spun around for one last look at her old smile, waving and forcing a wavering smile myself. She waved back, and I turned back around, stepping up and onto the bus, as the doors closed behind me.
I was glad nobody was paying attention to me as I made my way to the back of the bus, my heart thudding wildly in my chest. There wasn't a seat open. However, there was an empty spot besides a spider hybrid, who was pretending not to see me as she looked out the window.
"U-uhm..excuse me would you mind if I..sat here?" I asked, politely, my face red. The spider hybrid looked at me, her arms folded in her lap.
"Go ahead." She said, her face red. I wondered if she was just as shy as me.
She seemed to be avoiding conversation as she looked out the window. I would, too, but if I didn't, I would never make any friends. It was worth a shot.
"So..I'm Beatrice." I held my hand out. She looked surprised as she looked at my hand. Two of her eyes were red, the other two were grey. Her hair was white and silky, like spider web. Her skin was very dark grey, almost black. Her dominant trait was definitely animal. She smiled and took my hand.
"I'm Violet...is this your first day?" She asked softly, eyes wide.
"Well...yeah." I said, relieved she was talking to me. "Is it that obvious?" I forced a giggle.
"No. I've just never seen you before." She said, smiling at me.
"Oh." I mumbled. "Uh..what's the school like? Is it big?"
"It's nice." She said, with a slight shrug, "Very big, and pretty chaotic." Violet frowned slightly. I swallowed. I was nervous. I didn't know anybody here at all. It was quiet for a while besides the chattering, and the bus bumping along the road. I could hear a few people messing with their magic up front.
"Nervous?" Violet asked. Her voice was soft and she seemed reluctant with every word she said.
"Yeah." I said.
"Don't worry. I was, too. Just..make sure not to join any competitions. They're pretty violent."
"Competitions?" I echoed.
"Yeah. The school hosts magic competitions where you fight creatures. The most common fights we have are with each other. Whoever wins gets their face in the hall of glory...but I would never want my face up there." She said shyly, "That would be embarrassing."
I agreed.
"Oh. Pardon me for asking but.." Violet began but seemed to stop.
I looked at her patiently.
"Oh nevermind. I'll feel rude for asking."
I giggled, "No it's ok. What is it?"
Violet paused.
"...what are you? Some type of dog hybrid?" She asked, unsurely.
I giggled some more. "No. Spotted Hyena. Dominant trait human."
Violet nodded. "Thanks. I was just wondering."
"No problem." I said, "So what are your elements?"
"Decay and fear." She smiled innocently at me.
"Oh."
