I stared down at my numb feet, the ice around them evaporating into nothingness. I shivered.
"Geez, he's crazy! You good?" Star asked, eyeing me carefully. I swallowed dryly and exhaled shakily.
"Yeah..." I said.
Suddenly she hugged me. She jumped up and wrapped her arms around my shoulders. I felt my face flush and almost didn't hug her back from shock, but then slowly felt myself wrapping my arms around her. After a moment she pulled away and smiled at me. My face was still red hot.
"You looked cold." Star shrugged, "I thought you needed a hug." She laughed and then began leading me out of the building. I was slightly starstruck. I was actually completely and entirely in love with her. Never before had I believed in love. It was just a concept...just an emotion the brain creates that hits hard than fades over time. I remembered when I was younger and would scold all the others at the orphanage to not fall in love because it was a bad omen, and would only cause trouble. Yeah...I had crushes before...but I always denied it. This I couldn't deny.
Someone was snapping in front of my eyes.
I blinked to see everyone standing around me, looking concerned.
"Bea you good?" Leila asked. I nodded, and forced a smile and a giggle.
"S-sorry I..I dazed out for a second." I babbled.
They all seemed to relax a little bit.
"That scared me." Violet admitted. "Starella was just explaining that Cedric attacked you in the hallway, and you were just staring off into space just now as we talked about it. I thought you were in shock." She explained, twirling some web around her fingers.
"Uh..yeah.." I mumbled, not sure how to respond.
"So..on a change of subject, whose free this weekend?" Leila asked as we continued walking towards our houses.
"Oh I am." Silas said softly, trotting beside us in his deer form, his necklace jingling. "I'm..I'm usually free."
"Me too." Violet said.
"I've got nothing planned." Star exclaimed.
I shrugged.
"Ok, how about we meet at my house? I'll give you guys my address, and maybe you can spend the night or something?" Leila exclaimed, grinning.
Silas seemed reluctant.
"Oh don't worry, Mrs. F doesn't mind boys coming over." Leila laughed. Silas smiled.
The day went on. We walked home as if nothing had ever happened. I felt very stunned and silent. I had never been attacked before...and they acted like it was normal? I thought maybe I was just overreacting because I tend to do that sometimes but at the same time...I couldn't get that smirk out of my head.
He just seemed so set on absolutely demolishing me. If it weren't for Star....Who knows what he would have done to me.
Not to mention his two elements. Ice and water. Water is a very powerful element. Ice is average but can still be dangerous...
And Star...now I know what one of her elements are. Ice. She has the same one Cedric does. However, I'm not sure if she has water. That would just be creepy.
Then I began thinking about the dream...it felt like everything was building up to the dream. I just felt like more fighting was bound to happen and someone was going to get hurt...or everyone was.
I found myself spacing out once more as we walked home.
"Bea you sure you're ok? You keep spacing out."
I shrugged. "Yeah...I just..I've never been attacked before."
"But he didn't even hurt you...did he?" Violet asked softly. I looked at the ground.
"I guess not."
