Alice.

“Damn it….” I whispered.

Silence filled the van as Party raced us as fast as he could away from the scene we caused. “Everything’s going to be fine.” Party whispered back. “It’s going to be ok.” Yeah, sure he could say the words but I knew deep down he was making a promise that he couldn’t keep.

Images raced through my mind as we raced down the road. I knew everyone had questions, but I also knew that there would be a time where I could answer those questions.

I kept glancing over at Party and occasionally he would look back and give me a small smile but he would turn back, white-knuckling the steering wheel.

I know this is my fault. I dragged them into something that I already sucked Ronnie into. It was bad enough that my best friend in the world, well more like sister, was risking her life for me but to have a guy that has the same mind set as me but he’s sweet and a all around good guy. He can’t die for me. And the rest of the Killjoys can’t die for me either or else they will have hell to pay from yours truly. I had to get away before it was too late.

We had been driving through the dust covered plains that seemed to stretch as far as the eye could see for a couple of hours when Party pulled into a side road.

I squeaked as I bumped around on the rocky road in my seat, trying not to land on the lap of either Party or Kobra.

Party pulled into a cable car looking building and stopped behind it so that the van was hidden from the main road. We got out of the van and I noticed that the building was in fact a cable car at one point in time but was now turned into a cute little diner. The sign that once shone bright was now being lit by only a few light bulbs. It was cracked and hardly hanging on to the roof. It looked as if it was going to come crashing down any second.  The cute little diner over time had become a place where anything could happen.

I noticed that there was symbols spray painted on the sides. Most of them were crossed out with a dark colour. All but one.

Three circles with the one in the middle sitting on top of the two other ones that made a triangle out of the circles. Arrows shot out from the tops of the circles.

Party signaled us to stop and slowly pulled out his ray gun. The others did as well while I pulled out my knives.

Party entered first as we checked if it was clear. We checked under the booths and counters. And found nothing. Jet and Ginny checked out the kitchen area and called the clear.

Everyone relaxed and sat in the booths. Jet and Ghoul put their boots up as they unzipped their jackets. Ginny and Kobra sat in the booth beside the one I was sitting in while Part sat across from me.

I didn’t have to look up to know that there were all waiting for me to say something. I peeked up at Party and he just waited. He didn’t glare at me or seemed annoyed that I wasn’t saying anything.

I let out a sigh as I gave up the debate with myself. I looked at Party full on and told him my story as if it was only him.

“It hadn’t been a week since the assassination of the Big Man in the Big White House and Better Living Industries had parked their fat ass right in the middle of our lives.

Ronnie and I grew up in the sketchiest part of New Jersey. Worst than La today. I was 15 and had just gotten out of Juvie. Ronnie waited for me out front because my mom went missing and my dad didn’t even know I existed.

I never met my dad. I didn’t think I ever had a dad until my mom explained to me one day that you need two people to produce a child. I was so determined to find him but other things got in the way.
