My phone reads 2:33 a.m. Wait, how did I get in my bed? Then I realize that the door to my balcony is open. I sigh, I’m way too tired to care anymore and I fall back asleep. I finally wake up to, “KAROLINE JO AINSLEY.” My mom. Next thing I know she’s towering over my bed.

I yawn, “Morning mother.” Like every day she just continues to scream random bullshit. Most are about how I need to have the best grades in school (I wonder why she’s still talking about school, when summer just started), comparing me to other teens and how much stress she has. Yup welcome to my life, unlike you I can’t run from this. Finally I get up to go shower and head downstairs. Our house is full of unpacked boxes. Leaving California was so far the most painful thing that’s happened to me. Don’t get me wrong, sure moving here to Florida has its perks. For example: Having a big house, more time to myself because parents are busy with their job and most importantly a new start. I smile at this thought…a new start. Perfect.

I’m an only child, so yes you can say I get spoiled a lot. My parents aren’t so bad; they only start screaming at me because they’re stressed over something-usually work. I turn on my ihome and music plays throughout my room. We had my room painted an ocean blue with 3 white waves across the middles of every wall. So many boxes to unpack, this will literally take forever. We’ve been here for 3 days and I started to unpack yesterday. And I have made a lot of progress, but I’m way too tired to continue right now. So I get dressed into a soccer t-shirt, short shorts, mid-calves, VANS shoes and a snapback. On my way out of the house I text my parents that I’m driving down to the boardwalk/ town, which is only a 5 minute drive. I grab my keys from the kitchen; then load one of my skateboards into the trunk of my black Mustang. When I start the car I get a weird feeling. Oh that’s just my stomach grumbling…

After 20 minutes of trying to find a place to park, I grab my helmet and skateboard, and then start cruising around the boardwalk. This place is unbelievable, so many hang outs, shops, people, yeah you get the idea, but literally wow. My phone starts to ring, “Hello?”

“Kay? HEY GIRL HEY!”

I laugh, “OMG. Tills! Sorry I haven’t called earlier-“ Before I could finish my sentence, I see a ball coming towards my head and I go to block it. I almost fall, but I hop off and kick up my board. “Hey Tills call you back in a few.” Let’s get this straight I don’t get mad easily. So I go to pick up the soccer ball that almost hit me in the head and look for someone to claim it. When a group of guys start to wave for it, I throw it back to them.  As I was about to skate away, one of them calls after me; I turn around and I swear I was dreaming.
