Rather Be - Jasmine Thomphson
Let Her Go - Passenger
Colton and I didn't talk much in the car, but I could tell he was holding something in. His eyes were glued to the road and his fingers tapped nervously against the steering wheel. Whatever was on his mind, was bothering him beyond belief.
The beach appeared through my window after half an hour, the sun setting on the horizon. The blue water was shining brightly against the orange sun as the waves crashed against the rocks.
Colton pulls into a parking space quickly and turns off the car. "I'll carry the basket and you carry the blanket." he tells me, reaching behind me and placing the red blanket into my hand.
The wind was blowing harshly and I tried my best not to notice the the storm clouds coming in for the sake of my nervous boyfriend.
We set up camp a little further away from the water, yet close enough so that the slaty mist could still be felt. Colton took a seat behind me as I stared into the ocean, both of his legs enclosing around me. His chin nestled in my neck while his hands wrapped themselves around my torso. The small gesture had my heart fluttering and my cheeks burning. He chuckled deeply in my ear before sighing loudly.
"What is it?" I ask him, turning slightly.
"I'm just glad I can do this again." he smiles, grabbing my chin gently and placing a kiss on my lips. I turn to face his body, my knees under me. I wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling our bodies together. Colton began to slowly lean back, my body resting over his. I smiled into the kiss as his head hit the sand roughly, my hands on both sides of his head.
His hands roamed over my back, my dress blowing up slightly against the breeze. Our kiss deepened shortly, our tongues intermingling with each other. The passion and heat growing between us was so strong, we didn't notice the droplets of rain falling on us until one fell on the bridge of Colton's noise.
I giggled on top of Colton, sitting on his torso. "Someone forgot to check the weather forecast." I slap his chest, looking down at him.
"I'm sorry, I wanted this date to be perfect and I guess I forgot." He sighs, sitting up with me still sitting on him.
"Calm down, I was just playing. We have many more dates ahead of us." I smile, pinching his cheek.
"Yeah, I guess so. We didn't even get to do the most important part though." he pouts, looking into my green eyes.
"And what was that? I ask, tracing the outline of his chest.
"Dinner on the beach." he laughs, grabbing my hand. "What were you talking about?"
My eyes widen at his revelation and I could feel the color of my cheeks turning. "Nothing. How about we go home, change out of these wet clothes, and go find dinner at a diner." I suggests, sliding off of him.
I grab the basket off the wet sand as the rain began to fall heavier. Colton follows behind me with the blanket over his head and his keys dangling out of his front pocket.
My dress was nearly soaked when we made it to the car, body shaking from the coldness. Colton quickly turns on the heater and reaches to the back of his car to retrieve a sweatshirt.
"Here put this on." he hands me a gray Penn State hoodie.
"Penn State?" I question, throwing the large jacket over my head.
"My dad went there, wants me to go there." he shrugs, pulling out of the driveway.
"Do you want to go there?" I ask, the thought of Colton being so far away kind of scaring me.
