"You belong somewhere you feel free." -Tom Petty

The rain has started falling from the sky making my heels stick into the mud. How girls even walk in heels to begin with is a mystery, but walking on a sticky surface is borderline impossible.
"Coming?"
"I keep getting stuck! You try wearing these things." It doesn't help that I'm still slightly buzzed, either.
"Then take your shoes off!"
"There is no way I'm putting my feet in this goop."
"Here." What is he going to do, hold my hand? Suddenly I feel myself being flung over his shoulder in one swift movement. I start wiggling and kicking, but he doesn't even flinch.
"What are you doing?" I scream.
"Carrying you..."
"Obviously."
"Than why would you ask what I'm doing?"
"You're stupid."
"You're adorable."
I'm thankful it's dark out and he can't see me blushing. "Just hurry up."
"Hold on, we're almost there." I don't see any cars in sight, including his truck. Only a lone motorcycle is parked beneath a tree. He couldn't be serious. A second later he plops me down and climbs on his bike.
"No way!", I shriek.
"Yes, way!", he shrieks mocking my girly voice.
"I don't sound like that."
"Whatever you say."
"I can walk."
"Get on."
"Can you not see it's raining? I'm gonna get soaked!"
"You're already soaked?"
"But it's not safe."
"C'mon Em. I promise you won't get hurt." When I don't say anything, he gets off his motorcycle. "Here." Brennan straps the helmet around my neck, not losing eye contact wish me. If I wasn't already covered in goosebumps I would be now. His fingers linger on my cheek, but he's the first to break the gaze.
"You owe me", I mutter as we climb on.
He smirks. "Actually I believe you owe me for the ride". He turns the beast on and I begin to shake with fear. It is so unlike me to be on a motorcycle at three in the morning in the pouring rain. Practically cheating my boyfriend.
"WAIT!" He faces me puzzled. "Don't you have a helmet?"
"Yeah, it's on you." I begin to remove it but he stops me. "Don't. I'll survive."
"Well, where do I put my hands?"
"I'll show you." He takes my hands and wraps them around his waist. I'm sure they're much lower than needed, but I don't feel like moving them. "Ready?" Slowly we begin moving then pick up speed as we approach the main road. Freedom rings in my ears and the wind messes up my fancy up-do, but I don't mind at all.The intense rainfall makes the highway look like a fuzzy television screen.
"How can you see anything?" I ask him, already knowing the answer. He can't see anything.
Brennan just shakes his head. "Are you alright back there?"
"Yeah!", I have to shout if I want him to hear me through the wind and rain.
"I'm sorry for how he treated you tonight!"
