Kelvin
Kelvin filani sat on the swivel chair swirling from side to side with a pen in his mouth as he nibbled on it, he was thinking of nothing in particular as a white paper piqued his interest.
It was crumpled and stained, and would soon be thrown in the trash just as his life would be if he didn't sit up..
So many emotions were bottled up inside of him so much that his mood changes like a chameleon, right now he wasn't exactly feeling anything just numbness if that could be counted as an emotion..
it was the same mood he had when he heard of his father's death and still the same when he watched as his father's coffin was lowered into the ground, the tears didn't come,he wasn't even shocked nor happy or disgusted..just some kind of numbness that he couldn't explain.A knock on the door brought him out of his reverie as he lifted his legs off his desk and readjusted himself on the chair murmuring a loud enough to hear "come in"
"Good morning sir"
"Morning miss bello how may I help you"?
"Uhm, I just checked in sir, so I came to see if there's anything I could do for you..
"Okay, and what do you think you can do for me" he questioned eyeing her black shiny shoes, taking notice of the peeling parts that was covered with polish"
"Miss ewa those shoes you are putting on where did you buy them"
The hesitant look on her face almost made him wave the question off but for some strange reason he wanted to know what her answer would be.
"Uhm sir- I..I got them from a friend's boutique close to my house" she gulped
"And how much did it cost you"?
"8,000 naira sir" she lied through her teeth.
"Wow isn't that a bit too much Miss Ewa judging from the quality of the shoe"? He mentally smirked.
"Oh not at all sir.. it was a steal" she faked smile.
"Oh yes it most definitely was"he grinned
"So you were saying?"
"Is there anything I could do for you sir"?
"Actually there is" he said as he sat up.
"Are you bored?"
"I don't -
"Answer me yes or no"
"Are you bored?"
"Not exactly sir"
He sighed as he rubbed his temple.
"But why are you so dumb"?
Ewa face shifted to the ground as she tried to hide a tear that threatened to drop from her eyes.
"I'm sorry sir" she spat out
"Ok let do this again, are you bored yes or no"
"Sir if this ends up being a test I just want to let you know that I am going to be telling you nothing but the truth"
"Ok"
"Aww she thought it was a test" kelvin thought"Yes sir I'm bored"
"Is that's your final answer" he said mimicking Frank edoho from who wants to be a millionaire.
"Yes sir but I can explain"
"You know my answer Miss bello" he deadpanned.
"I'm sorry sir,i should have said no,it was a slip of tongue,i can't afford to lose this job I only came here to ask for more tasks to keep myself busy and that was what I meant when I said I was bored because I wanted more things to do other than stacking and sorting files.
