EWA stood close to her
friend with her fingers in her mouth, she chewed torturously at them like a woodpecker would go at a tree.
In her entire twenty three years of existence, she would never have imagined of been part of something as embarrassing as standing in the middle of the mall with her hyperactive best friend waiting to propose to her fiance.

"Quick give me the ring, he's coming".

"Jess are you sure this is okay"..

"Of course it is, and FYI you're not helping,I brought you here to support me instead you're making me nervous.

"Jess I just think you should wait a little more, he might be planning something bigger you can't tell".

"I can't wait okay,I am not the LORD OF THE RINGS if he can't grow some balls to propose to me, i'll do it myself,  now shut up and smile people are recording this.

"Okay I hope this goes well" EWA murmured to herself.

But she couldn't help the apprehensive feeling that sat at the bottom of her belly.

The escalator descended slowly,  and with every second that passed on EWA felt like fainting, she had only seen this stuff in movies and YouTube where the girl proposes to her man but not in real life and it happened to be her best friend.

"Why?  just.. Why?

As febi feet touched the ground he strolled towards them oblivious of the situation before him.

EWA had always had an eye for him back then in the university but he never looked her way, he only knew her as jessica's friend and up until now she is still regarded that way.

Although it all died down when she learnt that he asked jess out she still thought that he looked good.

And as she watched him take those comfortable strides of his towards them , she hoped and prayed that his answer was yes.

"Oh my God!  Here he comes, i'm going to propose to him right now, and he's going to say yes" jess fanned herself with her hands.

The crowd of people that stopped to watch was unbelievable, most of them recording the moment with their phones while others stood there smiling goofily.

"Febi! Jess called out.

He halted in his tracks and turned to the direction of the voice, EWA could see his shocked expression through his shades but couldn't tell if it was a good sign or a bad one..

"Uhm jess what's going"he asked as he removed the shades from his eyes.

Jess slowly went down on one knee with her out stretched arms that supported the ring.

"Jess" he said slowly, what are you doing? ". Quickly glancing at the surrounding crowd of people.

"I'm proposing, I can't do without you febi, that's how much I love you.. So please "ifemi"(my love) will you marry me? .

Febi stared at jess open eyed unsure of what to say, the situation was just so overwhelming with everyone hanging onto the very word that comes out of his  mouth, the truth is he had been dating jess for quite some years and he had already engaged her and to say he was ready for marriage   was just out of the case, he still had various horizons to explore, he wasn't ready to be a family man,  And this. It was just so uncalled for and it had to be in the mall!
Of all friggin' places.

"Jess stand up"he whispered quietly to her.

"No I won't until you say yes"

"Please jess let's not do this here, I need to explain this whole thing to you okay, we can't do this now".

"But why, i'm ready and so are you.. So why can't you".

"Jess i'll tell you let's just get out of here".

"Jess I think you should go with him"EWA advised.

"No!  I'm not leaving until he tells me why now"

"Jess people are watching"febi whispered.

"Let them watch I don't care, just say yes..

"Well I can't okay

"What do you mean can't, you can't do this to me".

"Newsflash b**ch my answer is no!  No!  You finally got your answer, can I go now!

"Hey, hey febi you can't do this people are watching"EWA begged

"Oh I thought they were gone, I should have said it very loud then".

"Listen up people, I just said no okay, i 'm not marrying her okay so get back to whatever you were doing and mind your business!!!

Anger boiled up inside EWA as she stared unbelievably at the asswipe of a guy...

"Febi" she tapped his shoulder.

"What? 

"Here's what,  wham!!!  She planted a thunderous slap on his cheek.

"That's for being such an asshole.

She walked to where jess was still crouching like a sack of potatoes and pulled her up..

As they passed febi,  jess halted for a moment and walked back towards febi who was standing there motionless with his right  palm on his cheek.

Her left leg went up in between his legs as the tip of her heels collided with the power house.
She slid the engagement ring off her fingers and threw at his chest.

And the crowd went oooh

The poor guy wriggled on the floor like a worm that he was.

"Idiotic son of a thousand fathers,senseless bastard, aaargh You!!  Stupid...

"Its okay jess let's go" EWA dragged jess away from him just as she was about scratching his eyes out.

"C'mon he's not worth it"
