I was laying in a field of sunflowers when I finally opened my eyes. The delicate feel of the petals rubbing against my face, was tickling my nose and making me sneeze. The sun rays shinned down on the field, making the flowers brighter, almost blinding my eyes and only allowing me to see yellow.
I was dressed in a baby blue sun dress that hung right above my knees and was very loose fitting. I had nothing else on underneath. No under garments or shoes. I laid my hands under my body, pushing myself up to a sitting position so I could see where I was currently at.
The field went on for as long as my eyes could see which looked about miles down. In the distant, I could see the line where the horizon met the ground. The sky itself was a pinkish color, almost as if the sun was about to set.
What happened...
The last thing I remember before everything went dark was bright flashing lights, my name being called in the distant by a familiar voice and then nothing.
Blank. Darkness.
But I couldn't exactly remember how I had gotten to that point.. My memory was extremely spotty.
Where the hell was I...
"Francesca." A deep muscular scratchy voice whispered my name, sending ice cold chills down my neck from how close he was. I could literally feel his hot musky breath on my neck.
I turned my head slowly, squinting my eyes from the sun but also trying to see who was speaking to me. The man was extremely tall, his body blocking the sun from my face. He was dark skinned with the most beautiful eyes I'd ever seen. They were both a different color. One a midnight blue with specks of yellow outlining them. The other was a bright leafy green color that reminded me of the earth. He kept his hair cut so short it was almost bald and he had a body that most men would die for. Yes, he was shirtless, only wearing a black pair of knee shorts and he also had no shoes on.
"I'm Elijah." He stuck his hand out to me and I gently grabbed it, expecting him to shake it but instead, he pulled me all the way off the ground to where I was standing.. approximately a inch away from his face.
I was so struck by how gorgeous he was and how close his face was to mine that I barely even heard him tell me his name.
I cleared my throat , giving myself time to get it together and took a single step backwards, putting distant in between the two of us.
"I would tell you mine but you obviously already know it." I gave a faint laugh. "Why is that? How do you know who I am? And where am I!?" I knew I was rambling but I was completely lost and I hated being in situations that I couldn't control.
Elijah threw his head back and chuckled while motioning me to follow him.
"I'll answer all your questions. But first follow me. I want to show you something."
"You expect me to follow a complete stranger?" I barely knew this man and he wanted me to follow him wherever the hell he was going. "Trust me my momma taught me about stranger danger. No thanks."
"Oh trust me , Fran. I know more about you then you even know. I'm definitely no stranger." He stuck his hand out to me again, asking me for mine. "You can trust me. I promise."
There was something about him that I couldn't put my finger on. Something seemed off but at the same time, he was the only other person besides me that was around. He knew answers that I needed to know and he knew where we was as well. Plus he called me by my nickname which gave me reason to believe he wasn't exactly lying.
I grabbed his hand and instantly my body got chilled. Danger literally rolled off his body aura but I didn't let go and I let him lead me to wherever we were going. I figured if he was going to hurt me then we would have done so by now.

"Why did I wake up in a sunflower field?" I asked Elijah as we continued to walk through the field to our destination.
"Sunflowers are your favorite flower. Plus they're calming. We wanted you to feel safe when you woke."
"We?"
Elijah hesitated mid step, like he was battling in his head where or not he should tell me something.
"Yes we. All of the gatekeepers like myself. And of course the big man upstairs."
"Excuse me?" You have got to be kidding me. This fool is playing tricks on me.
"Fran." He stopped and turned, staring me dead in my eyes. "You're about to learn a lot of stuff in the next couple of hours and I really need you to trust me. Just listen to everything that I tell you and know that everything will be okay."
My heart started pounding and my breathing started to get heavier. I had the overwhelming feeling that my life was about to change completely.
"You're scaring me , Elijah." I spoke softly, never breaking eye contact.
"Don't be scared. As soon as you find peace everything will be fine."
"What do you mean find peace? Find peace for what?" I was done listening to this bullshit.
"Where's my father?! And Adam?! I need to go home! Right this second! Take me back!" I turned around and started walking in the opposite direction , hoping it'd lead me back to home.
"Francesca!" Elijah yelled after me but I wasn't having it. I wasn't about to sit around and listen to a stranger explain things to me. I wanted to go home though I had no idea how I got here in the first place.
Elijah appeared instantly in front of me, scaring the living shit out of me and making me scream at first before I put my hand over my mouth to stop it from coming out.
"H-how did you do that?" My voice was shaking from the terror that was rattling through my body. I wanted to scream for help but I knew there was no one around to even hear me.
"Can you just calm the hell down for a second and let me explain it to you? I know what you're thinking and I'm not going to hurt you!"
"Just answer this one question for me. How and why and I here?" I spoke each word calmly, needing to know what was going on.
Elijah sighed like he was giving up and stared at me with a blank look on his face before finally blowing air out of his mouth as he ran his fingers across his face before giving me an answer.
"You're dead."
