"You look absolutely beautiful." Adam's voice broke me out of the intense stare I had on his face, making me blush and avert my eyes. I didn't want to seem like a just another normal girl to him. I didn't want to be one of the girls he took to bed for the night and forgot about the next day. I wanted to be different, to be appreciated and adored like my father treated my mother.

"Thanks." I glanced backed up at him, half talking and half laughing. "I wasn't going for beautiful though. More like hot, sexy. " I winked at him, joking which is how I handled most interactions with him.

Adam laughed, making me instantly grin. "Oh babe, you're definitely looking the part tonight."

I frowned, "What do you mean, Adam? You don't think I look the part everyday?" I acted hurt for a split second throwing my hand over my heart, being dramatic.

He pulled my body to him roughly, still laughing and wrapped his arms around me, hugging me so tightly my boobs were basically up to my neck choking me.

"Oh hush, Fran. You know I'm just messing around with you. Come on, lets get this party started." I rolled my eyes, not wanting to admit the way that he went around the question. That was always his way of avoiding uncomfortable situations with everything.

Adam was very good at avoiding things. He especially didn't like confrontation and steered away from it at all costs. Adam's father split when he was only five years old, making him believe he was a complete mistake in his father's eyes. After his father left, his mother took a complete turn downhill and hasn't really been apart of Adam's life except a roof over his head and a bed to sleep on.

I felt horrible for Mrs. Jennifer, Adam's mom. We all grew up together and she was a blessing to my families lives and definitely didn't deserve what life handed her. So yeah, Adam avoided anything that would make him feel uneasy like the plague, because it always ended bad for him in one way or another.

We got into the car and headed out to the party. The people who were having it was a bunch of rich kids from my high school that had nothing better to do with their lives then to get drunk every weekend and get lost to the world. Adam was one of those kids, but his heart was always in a different place though. He was gently, just needed a reason to escape the life he lived. So, he did. Every weekend. With multiple girls.

The owner of the house we pulled up to 20 minutes later was Addison Keller, Adam's ex girlfriend. She absolutely hated me because she thought I was the reason that Alex broke up with her, which is hilarious considering the real reason they ended. Adam never really liked her after the first date he had with her. I remember him calling me the night after their date and him telling me how awful it went. Adam thought she was boring, that she hardly even spoke to him and when she did it was pointless things that didn't really matter.

I often wondered why he stuck around with her as long as he did, especially since he didn't care for her too much.

"I just don't want to be lonely, Fran." Alex had said to me when I had asked him why he was still with Addison a few months ago. "I'm just tired of being lonely." Of course a few days later, Addison confessed her undying love for him and he broke it off, not wanting to lead her on any longer.

She still had feelings for him though, which made it more complicated for me. I wanted him. I was tired of always being the one that he slung to the side when he got a new girlfriend. I knew everything about him and what made his mind tick inside. I just wish he saw what I saw.

"Whatcha ya thinking about, Fran? You're being too quite." Adam knocked his finger tip against my temple, disrupting my thoughts.

"Nothing really, just wondering why we're going to a party hosted by your ex girlfriend." I eyed him, trying to drag information out of him. I hope he's not planning on getting back with her.
