"Boomer, it's okay to have a learning disability."
"No, it's not. Can't you understand that, Bubbles?"
Bubbles looked at Boomer. Boomer just crossed his arms, refusing to touch his books. He stares at his books with hatred. Yesterday Bubbles found out about his disability, and he refused to read or write anything. He didn't want this secret to come out because he doesn't want people pity him.
"Boomer," Bubbles said as she put her hand on his arm. "If you want help then all you have to is ask."
Boomer rolled his eyes, "No thanks. I rather act petty and not admit that I have a problem."
"That's not healthy."
"Yeah, so is not eating meat or cheese but I do it anyway."
"Boomer! Why can't you just admit this?"
"Don't want too. 'Cause I rather not want to remember that I have it."
"Nothing is wrong with having dyslexia."
"Don't say it out loud!"
Bubbles looked at him, confused. Boomer grabbed his french fry and toss it in his mouth, not wanting to talk anymore. Bubbles pressed her mouth together, she didn't know what to say. Of course she knows how Boomer hates having dyslexia. Bubbles also didn't want to make him uncomfortable or mad at her.
"Spanish isn't easy, trust me. But once you start applying yourself them everything will be okay." Bubbles said.
Boomer groaned, "Oh yeah? Imagine having this Bubbles, okay just imagine. When you want to read something, doesn't matter what you just want to read and the letters start to move. Your brain can't focus on one word because the letters just want to everywhere their shouldn't be. Or when you try to solve one simple math problem, the numbers just aren't the ones from the board. They flip upside down, not even looking like the real thing! No matter how hard I try, trust me I try, my brain just can't handle it."
"Wow, teen angst." Butch said with a burp.
Boomer gave Butch a glare before turning back to his lunch. Bubbles frowned, not knowing how to respond to that. She didn't think it was anything like that. She just simply thought it was just some letters backwards, she didn't think that it is really stressful. Now she understands why Boomer hates reading or anything that he has to read his face twist in anger and confusion. Bubbles actually feels bad for thinking that it's different.
Brick looked between the boys, "So? I'm guessing someone is a little upset."
"Who's upset? No one is upset!" Boomer exclaimed as he chomped down on a piece of lettuce.
"I think that lettuce will be." Blossom mumbled.
Boomer didn't hear her comment, but he could care less. Now everyone at the table knows about his disability. Now everyone knows something is wrong with him. Boomer doesn't want that nor does he want people to know about his dyslexia. He hates it when people take it easy on him after they find out. Making the paragraphs smaller, or giving him longer time on homework assignments. He just wants to be treats normal.
"So, why are you bruting?" Butch asked.
"You already know." Boomer replied.
"I know! I just want to hear you say it. You know, to make you more comfortable." Butch said.
Buttercup elbowed Butch, making him hiss. "What dumbo here means is that we're not going to treat you any different."
"Oh yeah? Is that why you haven't pass that paper to me? But you pass it to everyone here." Boomer said.
"She didn't show me." Blossom said.
Everyone looked at her. Brick smiled as he turn away, already liking her boldness. Blossom gave a nervous giggle as she shrugged her shoulders.
"Not helping, got it." Blossom mumbled.
"Everyone is allow to speak." Brick said.
Boomer rolled his eyes, "You're only saying that because you're thinking with little man downstairs."
Brick face went bright red, quickly backing away. Butch snorted, trying not to laugh out loud but his mouth betray him. Butch let out a loud laugh. Brick frowned as he turn away, not wanting to look at any of them. He didn't know what was worse. Butch laughing at him or the fact he is actually blushing.
"Look, we all got problems. So don't let it drown you." Brick said.
"Don't let it drown me? Oh yeah, what about you?" Boomer shot back.
"What about me?" Brick asked.
"Bro, no." Butch said.
"What are you guys talking about?" Buttercup asked.
"He's the famous Loner, remember? There was this time period where he painted out against domestic abuse." Boomer said.
Brick narrowed his eyes but didn't say anything. He did do those pieces because of her. Which is why he hates how Butch figure out who he is and he has to make sure he has a cover story for all his paintings. Brick doesn't want them to know that he was abused, nor does he want to remember about the beatings. So he wants to know how far Boomer will take it.
"I don't remember those." Butch said as he tapped his forehead.
Bubbles nodded, "I do. They we're all over the health walls. Like sending a message for someone. Always on lockers."
Brick gulped, they are about to say it. He could feel it. From the corner of his eye, he knows that Blossom watching him. He turn to look at her. He wants to know how she's going to react, he wants to know if she will judge him for being to weak. He wants to know if Blossom will never see him in the same way and only see him as weak. Brick knows it coming, but he's scared if it does happen.
"Wait, is that around the time the rumors were happening?" Buttercup asked.
Blossom didn't look away from Brick, "Rumors?"
Boomer nodded, "Oh yeah, rumors. People whispered in the halls how Princess beats her boyfriend. Not the normal beating, I'm talking scratching or black eyes. Just like the paintings."
"Just say it already." Brick said.
"No, I don't know if it's true or not. Nor do I want to upset you in anyway." Boomer said.
"Wait a cheeseball, you're the boy who got smacked by Princess?" Butch asked.
Boomer and Buttercup both elbowed Butch. Butch gasped as he leaned forward, covering the recent attacks. He grumbled something about boney elbows but stopped when he saw Brick's face. Brick eyes widen but face frozen in fear. He was staring at Blossom but not really looking at her. He look as if he's in another world.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean . . ." Boomer mumbled.
"Oh man, he is the boy." Butch said.
Buttercup glared at him but rolled her eyes. Butch put his hands up before turning back to Brick. Brick looked at them, refusing to look at them longer than five seconds. Bubbles try to give Brick a small smile but Brick didn't return it. Blossom reached out to touch his arm but pulled it back. Boomer chewed on his bottom lip, wishing he hadn't brought any of this up. He also wishes that he had a lid on his anger.
"Well," Butch said as he clapped his hands, "This is awkward."
