Song to listen to while reading:
Now At Last - Feist
Cheyenne
Talking to my mother was surreal, like I was her little girl again. Peering into her eyes was like literally
looking through a troubled soul.
"Oh, Cheyenne, I wish you had stayed with me longer. I-I know I didn't treat you the best, but it's all I could do. I know for sure that it's not my best, but I was sick. I still am. But that's why I'm here. I need you." She croaked.
I sipped my water and put it gently on the coffee table.
"What do you want from me, mother?" I replied.
"I just....need a couple million dollars." She said.
"For what?" I sighed.
"You know, the regular stuff. Food, water, clothes-,"
"And heroin?" I blurted out, cutting her off.
"Just please, please understand." She says, giving me puppy dog eyes.
I really didn't want to give her the money. And I knew that Alex wouldn't want me to. But I knew that she needed this so I was going to give it to her.
"Let's go," I sighed.
"Go where?" She smiled.
"To the bank." I said, getting up and grabbing my keys with my mom following behind.
