"I know this isn't a part of the contract, but if we are to get married, you will have to stop wearing that." I said. She looked at me,one eyebrow raised, the look on her face screaming 'what the hell are you talking about?'
"Your perfume." I added. "Its too distracting."
-Here's to family (Hostage)Kimberly's POV
I ran my fingers through my hair, massaging as the water from the shower hit my skin mildly. The images from last night were in constant replay in my head.
The fact that Keenan kissed me was in constant replay in my head.
The way his hands held me was in constant replay in my head.
The fact that he'd apologized was also in constant replay in my head.
I didn't know what to make out of what had happened last night. I had barely gotten enough sleep last night from thinking about it. I was tired, and confused, and hurt.
Five minutes later,I walked out of the shower with a bathing robe on my body and towel tied firmly on my head. Thankfully, when I woke up, there were dozens of shopping bags beside my bed. I had no idea when they got there, or who put them there. I was just grateful to have something to change into.
I reached for the first bag my hand could reach and pulled out a little dark purple dress. It was very plain except for the thin silver belt in the middle.
I loved it.
I changed into it and then took out some time to blow dry my hair and then stretch it. I'd found the hand drier and stretcher in the first drawer.
This room literally had everything.
My hair at its full length now was few inches below my waist. I took a mental note to have it trimmed when we get back to New York.
I starred at myself in the mirror, feeling satisfied with myself. I hadn't looked this good in a while. I ran my fingers through my hair as I reached for my handbag, which somehow was now lying on the vanity table beside the mirror.
Someone had definitely been in here last night.
Or early this morning, rather.
I unzipped my bag and then got out a small glass round shaped bottle. It had the words 'Ecstasy' spelled in cursive in front of it. A part of me wanted to get back at Keenan for last night, a part of me wanted answers, and a part of me was glad I never took the bottle out of my bag.
Without much hesitation, I sprayed a few shots in the air. I drew in a deep breath.
And then I walked right into it.

Thankfully, when I got downstairs, Keenan and Maece were already seated in the dining area."Kimberly!" Maece almost jumped off her seat the moment she saw me. "Over here." She continued. I faked a smile and then moved towards them. I took a seat beside Maece, directly across Keenan and then ran my fingers through my hair. I could feel Keenan's burning gaze on me and even though my heart literally did a thousand back flips,I didn't want to look just yet.
Not yet.
Instead,I focused my gaze on the dishes on the table. There were chocolate pancakes,crêpes, espresso waffles and mocha drizzle, grilled asparagus and poached egg on toasts, scrambled eggs...
There were a lot of options and i was momentarily confused.
"So--" Maece started excitedly, calling my attention away from the food. "I was just telling Keenan about the beach. There's one not too far away from here. And,we all know you can't visit an island and not visit the beach at least once." She said as though it was the most absurd thing on the planet. I tucked some loose strands of hair behind my ear and then pursed my lip, silently regretting my decision to wear the perfume.
If looks could kill, this would probably be my funeral.
After a few seconds, he finally pulled his gaze away and then stood up abruptly,my eyes following his sudden movement.
"Kimberly, a word?" It was a question but it came out more as a command. He walked away immediately before I could as answer. I turned to Maece and then gave her a thin smile before I stood up and then followed him out of the dining room.
He climbed up the stairs, not even bothering to glance back once and I felt my heart beat rapidly against my chest.
He seemed mad.
I followed him quietly, making sure to stay a few steps away even though deep down somehow,I knew he wouldn't hurt me. I followed him through the hallway that led to the aquarium. And then he stopped, his back still turned to me.
In the twinkle of an eye, he was walking towards me. Again.
My legs cringed as images of last night invaded my thoughts. My breath hitched and before I could bring myself to snap out of the spell he had put me under,I felt my back hit the wall. I had no idea how I'd moved from my original standing position, or how we'd gotten to this very uncomfortable position but my back was pressed against the wall, my hands held firmly above my head. His face was only a few inches away from mine, his other hand was in my hair, and I could literally feel the warmth his breath on my cheek.
I forgot to breathe.
I dared to break my gaze away from his intense stare and I allowed my gaze move down to his lips. And then his lips started to move and when it dawned on me that he was saying something, I forced myself to meet his gaze once more. I'd missed the first part of what he said but after a few seconds,he let go of me completely and then moved back, restoring space between us.
"Don't ever defy me again, Kimberly." He told me and then walked away. This time, he didn't look back either. He just kept on walking until I saw him pull a pair of double doors open and disappear inside.
Only when I saw the doors close did I allow myself to breathe. I felt heat crawl up my cheeks and I knew my face was as read as a tomato.
I felt embarrassed, and upset, and mad.
This was one hell of a revenge stunt gone wrong.
