It means you,Ruby Kent have been marked by me. And I just happen to never go away.-Jason Monroe (Hostage-Together Forever)
Jason's POV .
I had to be batshit crazy.
Either that or I wasn't thinking straight at the moment.
It was even crazier that I wasn't even doing this for the project.
I just wanted to paint her.... Ruby.
She stared at me,her lips slightly parted and then shook her head, her face clouded with disbelief.
"You want to paint me?" She raised an eyebrow. "Why would you want to paint me?"
"Because, Kent-" I squatted so our eyes were almost on the same level. "There is nothing more artistic than a brunette with blonde eyelashes."
I could have sworn I predicted the eye roll.
"Besides,I think it's perfect. We get good grades by doing the things we love the most. " The words were out of my mouth before I could help myself. I managed to remain cool even when I mentally slapped myself. Multiple times.
She turned to face me,a sign that what I said had caught her attention.
"And what is it that I love the most?" She raised both eyebrows in a challenging manner and I watched her try to intimidate me with her glare.
I was Jason Monroe.
She couldn't bring me down if she wanted to.
I grinned and then glanced down at my wristwatch.
"Ballet." I met her gaze. "How long has it been,Kent? Since you felt like an actual dancer?" I asked. She drew in a sharp breath and then looked away. "I can make you feel that way again." I concluded. "And don't get me wrong-" I paused. She turned to face me once more. "This is me telling you the only way this is going to work. It's not a negotiation. "
She bit down on her lower lip and then shut her eyes for a moment.
And for that very short moment, I found myself watching her intensely.
Noticing how long her lashes were, noticing how straight her nose was, noticing the bow of her lips.
I looked away instantly and then ran my fingers through my hair as I stood up.
"Okay, fine." She breathed, opening her eyes. "I guess the sooner we get this done, the closer I get to finally getting rid of you." She gave me a sadistic smile. I chuckled, surprising myself and then cleared my throat.
Ruby Kent.
"I already told you,Kent." I smirked. "I don't go away easy."
""I wouldn't exactly say it's been easy, Jason. You've been a pain in my ass since the day I met you." She turned away to hide a smile as she shut the screen of her computer.
"Talking back now are we?" I raised an eyebrow, feigning surprise.
To be honest,it felt good.
Having a close to normal conversation with someone.
Even if that someone was Ruby Kent.
She chuckled and then shook her head.
"Maybe I'm just learning to defend myself." She shrugged. I pursed my lip and then let out an exasperated sigh.
"Well,I did promise to destroy you. "
She chuckled and then tucked some loose strands of hair behind her ears.
