An Apology?

In subjects other than maths and English the students were assigned with a partner. The partner they had was for the whole school year. Mr. Kennedy assigned Jaesung with Leslie and Zipporah with Connor. Jaesung wanted to be assigned with Zipporah, because he wanted to get to know her. To him she seemed very outgoing and passionate. Whereas he would keep his opinions to himself or wrote them down, she gave hers out openly. Everyone in this group of six fell before her feet and she didn't even realise it. Connor lowkey bragged about having her as a partner, whilst implicitly flirting with her or purposely getting her attention. He did this as if he was trying to show that she was his. The thought of this behaviour was amusing to Jaesung. Not just what Connor was doing, but his own feelings towards her. However he couldn't help it though, every time she saw him she flashed her dazzling smile or said hi to him. This is something he cherished, because in this group no one spoke to him, accept from Leslie, whilst the rest of the school picked on him. The reason why the others didn't get picked on is because they had their own group of friends, but he didn't.

All week Leslie has been pestering Jaesung on 'how to say this or how to say that in Korean'. At first he was happy to help, but rather than the work she went on and on about this. He then asked her when her birthday was, she was a bit confused before she told him. "February 16th" she said with a smile. He knew exactly what he was going to get her, a Korean dictionary.

Anyways break-time came and everyone went to the playground to join their friends. Jaesung sat at the bench and began reading his book as usual. Suddenly he smelt cocoa and vanilla, so his head turned to the delicious smell. It was her! His heart began thumping loudly and aggressively as if it wanted to get out of his chest.

"Um.. heya! May I sit?" She asked, with a soft smile on her smooth, round, chocolatey, face.

"Sure." He nodded. He didn't want to seem like a weirdo, therefore he returned to his book. The feelings he grew for her was like no other, he had never experienced them before.

He turned to look at her to see her eating cooked banana slices, whilst on her phone. She was swift and caught his glance though he tried to quickly look away. This made her snicker at his sudden action. "I saw you." She said smiling. He didn't look at her, he kept his head down at his book whilst his heart travelled up his throat.
Suddenly a hand, her left hand was now sitting on his right shoulder. "You probably want to try this right?" She grabbed a piece of plantain from her snack box and showed it to him. He stared at the piece of fried banana before turning to look at her. "It's nice." She encouraged. "It's called plantain." She continued. He leaned his head forward to take a bite, this caught her by surprise. She expected him to take it out of her hand first. He chewed the plantain slowly before he nodded his head with approval. "If you like it, take the rest." She handed him the other half of the plantain piece. He ate that as well. "So you're South Korean eh? Tell me what you think of the three Jamaican items you've tried so far." She stated. He looked up at her in a bit of confusion. "The jerk chicken, fried dumplings and plantain. Tell me what you think of them." She rephrased.

"They are delicious." He said, looking down at his held hands. He squeezed his hands so tightly together in order to keep calm, but due to the pressure he held them at they were extremely white. Knowingly he knew later on that they'd be red and sore.

"By the way your mother's cooking is absolutely amazing." She smiled, causing him to smile as well.

Suddenly, there was a long, loud ripple of laughter that broke out. This spooked both Jaesung and Zipporah. The small crowd of girls made heart gestures with their hands as they began mocking the two. "Black and yellow! Do you remember that song?" Laughed Tellise. The little posse behind her nodded their heads and muttered, yeah.
